Family Tree

March 7, 2020
  • Hi Dad, I am still researching our family tree and guess what?  I just found your ggg-grandfather!  My gggg-grandfather.  Isn't that amazing. So, there's your Dad George b. 1904, then William b. 1880, then John b. 1847 then Thomas b. 1827, and now William b., about 1795 to 1807.
  • You will never guess how I found William.  :) I had a marriage certificate of Thomas Lewins marrying a Grace Jane Beaumont but on gg grandpa's (John) birth certificate Grace put her name as Grace Lewins formerly Dodds.  So I recently reached out to a lady on Ancestry.com and she obtained the birth certificate of John's brother and on that one she listed her name as Grace Lewins formerly Beaumont!  Now I know I have the right marriage certificate and it lists Thomas's father as William.
  • I know you are enjoying the company of all your family and relatives up there and down here, even though we may not have your physical presence, we still have your spirit and your heart to continue to share with family present and future.

His Life

March 14, 2015

Dad met Mom in the summer of 1946.  He attended Bowmanville Central Public School up to Grade 8.

Over the years Dad worked as a Moulder, Rawleigh Dealer, Watkin's Dealer, Brown's Bread Dealer, and Construction Worker.   At the Hamilton Cotton factory in Ajax he held the positions of General Maintenance and eventually Foreman.

He worked on his own in several businesses as self employed.  In Kedron, Dad had a small engine repair business.  He loved to tinker with mechanics.  While living in Oshawa he had a moving business and a vinyl siding business and of course, owned Frank's Variety Store.

Dad enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing guitar, carpentry, and farming.   He lived in Ontario all his life at Newcastle, Salem, Bowmanville, Warkworth, Kedron, Oshawa, Blackstock, Orono, Newtonville, and finally Hasting (Havelock).
