It was 2013 and Jim was hosting myself, Frenchie, Brent A., Joe G, and Andy at his home in Georgia. Every other sentence and/or question were that coming from a humbled man of great integrity and razor sharp wit. He had me constantly challenged to think and listen. As we walked from room to room and Jim showing us the various karate pieces of memorabilia that he lived, I couldn't help but wonder how he did it all. He traveled around the world, worked with so many and yet it was all contained neatly and in its proper place for a stranger like me to see in awe as only a glimpse would allow. I savor friendship and time with people when I'm around and when you meet a man like Jim Larocco, you sit up and pay attention. He opened his life to us that evening and seeing just the tip of the iceberg to his accomplishments could tell anyone that he was formidable without him ever saying it. You knew it. You felt it. In his son lies another Jim. A warrior that will quest his journey through this life unmoved by evil and revered in greatness. A young granddaughter will someday fully understand the impact Jim Larocco made on this planet and the legacy he leaves. We mourn your loss Jim and we celebrate your life. You would have it no other way. Your smile will never be forgotten. No part of you will be. I look forward to hearing the stories to come. I'm sure that mine is pale in comparison to those that knew him for a longer time. Rest easy Jim Brett
