|Let the memory of Michael be with us forever|
You were always such a "cool" kid - great at sports, wonderful in academics and, most importantly, a warm hearted and very kind soul. I would often hear your mom rave about you, and just knew that her every word of praise and her pride in the amazing young man you were growing up to be was well earned.
I have no doubt you would have been a remarkable 20 year old but for God's Plan. Our Thoughts & Prayers for you, your amazing mom and dad as well as your family & numerous friends............."
"Thinking of you and your mom today and always.....xoxo"
"Michael 20th birthday what a young man you would be. We remember you well. Brian says happy birthday and he misses you. Our hearts still break and you will never be forgotten. Love Angela, Brian and Marion (Brian's grandma)"
"Micheal, we think of you often and remember all the great times we had with you and your mother. We wish we could have been out with you last night celebrating your 20th birthday. All our love."
"Michael --you and my son Dave died exactly the same number of days past your birthday. What a strange coincidence.
This is just a note to your dear Mom. Hang on Mother. Only another mother can begin to understand what your heart is feeling."
"Happy 20th birthday Michael! I am certain you would have been an incredible young man if only given a chance. I know you are missed terribly by so many people. Smile upon us all and watch over us especially your mom...I know she misses you so much!"
"Michael, I miss you every single day. I can only imagine the things you would have accomplished at 20 years old.. You were always an all-star. Happy Birthday, buddy.
Tons of love,
We miss you more than we ever thought possible. There is a big
void in our lives that you once filled. We pray for you and think
about you every day. We can only imagine what you would have
accomplished in your lifetime. We had so many wonderful times
together - especially on trips which you made so much fun. You
will always be with us.
Love, Nana & Grandad"
"This is a very difficult time for all of you, especially for Kathleen, his mum, your love for him is so huge that I'm sure he can feel it. I hope Cristina and Michael know each other and play together as they deserve. We'll pray for you Michael."
"Thinking of your Kathy and sending you many hugs and good wishes."
"We miss you everyday Michael... not just today. We cherish your memory and your beautiful smile brings us comfort. Happy Birthday buddy!
"Happy 20th B_DAY Michael. We always remember you specially when we are watching basketball games.
I still remember seeing him when we were in RTP. He is such a fun kid to talk to. God Bless!!"
I thank God for each day that you were in our lives – you were truly a gift from God. I miss you every day and know what a great person you were and would to be today. You brought so much love and joy to everyone you loved and you were so loved by so many wonderful family and friends. The memories of you are always in my heart and you will never be forgotten. Now you are our angel in heaven. You made this world an incredibly special place and continue to inspire me every day. Love Forever, (Aunt) Karen XXXXXXXOOOOOOO"
It is still difficult to accept that you are no longer with us. However,
knowing you are with Jesus, out of your pain, in peace, and surrounded by love is an incredible comfort.
I am so lucky that I was able to know you, when you came to Florida, with your mom and aunt. Your mom told me that you wanted to come back to Florida, as you had a lot of fun and you wanted to visit me, again. We did have fun and I thought you were beyond wonderful and had a beautiful soul. I know you are watching over your mom. You know she misses you so very much.
All of us love & miss you, Michael ! Happy Birthday! Sending you hugs & smiles......
You are always missed, always loved, always remembered......."
"Happy birthday Michael!
I often think about you. You continue to teach me from the heaven. God bless you and yours."
"Happy birthday Michael!!!! Missing you always xoxo"
"We frequently think about Michael. I wish you the best. Dr. Tennison"
"Happy Birthday to my " southern cutie" :)
I can't believe you would be 20. You'll always be that smiling, full of life nephew that enjoyed the snow when you came up north to see us at Christmas. You will always be in my thoughts and heart.
No more pain, no more suffering. I'm sure you're watching over us all along with gramma, grampa, uncle Mark and uncle Duncan, so I know you're in good hands and with people that loved you.
Love and miss you,
Aunt Marlene xoxo"
"Happy 20th Birthday Michael
. I can only imagine what great things you would have accomplished and the person you would be. Your foot prints in the sand will never wash away.
There is not a day that you are not on my mind. You are at peace and that brings comfort..
"Happy birthday to Michael, a fine young man that is missed even by people who only met him a few times. I could well up in tears thinking about what a tragedy it was for him to leave us so soon, but instead I am looking at these pictures and remembering the times that I interacted with him, talking with Michael and Kathy and seeing the pride in Kathy's face... and I prefer to hold on to those moments - if only as a means to cope."
"Kathy, you and Michael will always hold a place in the heart of Woody's Mom."
"Happy Birthday, Michael! There was never a boy more loved than you, especially by a mother. I hope Heaven is throwing you an amazing birthday party today and always. Love you, Ms. Stephanie"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY Michael!!!!
You are a member of my Hall of Fame!!!! The picture of us at the 2008 ACC Tournament with Ben and Lennie Rosenbluth sits on the desk in my study. Every player I work with at my home hears about you. I will NEVER forget you.
You would be 20 years old today. Happy Birthday! Three days after your 16th birthday you passed away. I miss you from the depths of my heart. It has been four very long years now and every day you are not here is harder and harder. Miss all the fun times we shared and all the excitement that each new day would bring. There was never a day that was not better than the day before.
I miss watching the wonderful young man you were becoming. You were my life. All the times that you would do the right thing, making the best decisions. The tenacity and passion you demonstrated in everything that you did. Your compassion that you had for everyone. I was always so proud.
Just remember you are always in our hearts and some day we will be together again. See you in heaven.
All my love. Mom"
"I went to elementary school with Michael. I met him at the Y, but I really got to know him in fourth grade when we went to Michigan together for OM. Even though weren't on the same team or in the same grade, I still have vivid memories of him. He was always so sweet and caring, something I strive to be. I was a very small part of his life, but he has been very influential in mine. Even now during my first year of college, there are moments where Michael crosses my mind, instances where the smallest things bring back my memories of him. I'm so sorry for your loss; all of my love to you, Ms. Mendy.
"You need to know that I never forget Michael. Next to my bed are three photos, Brian, Stuart and Michael. I see his beautiful face everyday, from beginning to end. Brian, Mom and I speak of him often."
This is such a fine tribute to Michael. He was such a great young man, always having a smile on his face. My family having known Michael since he was 10 years old we know he brought a lot of joy to you. We still think of him and pray for the both of you. We still carry his memorial pray card in our Toyota Corolla and never want to forget him. Our son Michael having played on a few baseball teams with him we got to know him very well. Our family hopes you know how highly we thought of and still think of Michael. My God continue to Bless you, Michael, and the rest of your family.
All Our Prayers,
Paul, Susan, Michael, and Matthew Franzese"
"Dear Kathy -
So touching to read these tributes and the love people have for you and Michael. I am so grateful you invited me in to see this. What a wonderful memorial."
Thank you for sharing this site with me. Michael was so very special to me and I think of him alot. I miss seeing you and him at the holidays.
You and Mike have gone through a parents worst nightmare, of which no one could imagine the pain unless they've lost a child. All 3 of you will always be in my heart.
May you and Mike stay strong. I'm sure Michael is ALWAYS with you.
Michael's aunt.... Marlene"
"My condolences go out to the family and friends of Michael. From reading about him I know he is missed and loved by many. No matter what, it can truly be said that death is an enemy and soon it will be brought to nothing (1Cor. 15:26). I have found much comfort in the Bibles promise of a resurrection hope of our loved ones at John 5:28, 29 and hope you will too. Death was never a part of Gods original purpose, in fact he yearns to soon bring an end to it and the suffering it causes your family and friends. Revelation 21:4 states: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." I did not know Michael, but I read his obituary and I hope these scriptures will help to bring some comfort knowing that others care. If you would like to learn more about the Bibles promises and the hope it brings, please feel free to contact me."
"Thank you Kathy for allowing me to the share in the story of this beautiful boy. Sometimes the lemonade, although very bitter leaves sweet memories
With deepest respect for all you do to honor Michael's memory
"Kathy- I received your beautiful card today. Our continued friendship means the world to me. Thanks for letting me know about this beautiful tribute page for Michael. If there is a boy with a more loving and dedicated mother, I don't know who she is. Your Michael meant the world to so many of us and I thank you for sharing him. Love you - Stephanie"
"Kathy, you did an amazing job with this memorial. Though I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Michael. he was (by all accounts here) a beautiful and accomplished person. Thank you for sharing this with me."
"I was Michael's basketball coach when he was on the boys 9/10 age group. Every practice and every game he walked into the Gym with a huge smile on his face. I remember describing him to one of my colleagues as a big teddy bear! He was a great athlete and more so a wonderful, kindhearted boy. I am so blessed to have known Michael!"
"Kathy.... This is great!. Thank you for including me. It was such a pleasure to coach Michael. Lisa and I often talk about those days and remember Michael with a big smile on our face. He was such a big personality that we enjoyed so much. We will always remember and treasure the time we had. Mike"
"Kathy, this is beautiful!! My favorite thing would be when you'd come into work and tell us a story in your "Michael" voice. It could have been about sports, school, or something at home, but you switched over to your impersonation and your eyes lit up. I can't imagine what you've been through, but you are in our prayers!"
"Thank you Kathleen to let me take part in your son's memorial.
It's a very nice website as children, as Michael, are angels. They deserve the best from us. I wish: God let Michael be next to you, that you notice his presence, always very near you, and give you the strength to continue with life. Lots of love for you both"
"Kathy, Thanks so much for sharing this with me. It is priceless! I consider myself very fortunate to have been in Michael's presence on a few occasions. I also got to see him play basketball. He was indeed quite an athlete, a great son and quickly growing into a fine young man. It was / is apparent what a terrific Mom you are and how much he loved you."
Thanks for sharing and reminding us what's important. Wanted to let you know that I had hope the times that Richard and Blake were visiting Michael. And that I still have hope for both of you, though it is a little different. God Bless you both!"
"Kathy, I cannot imagine your pain and emptiness. I remember Michael when he and Jeff played on sports teams together. Michael was quite an athlete, but more importantly he was a boy with great character. It was an honor to know him. You're in my prayers."
"Kathy:This is really amazing. I really enjoyed talking to him when we were in RTP, it was fun talking to him about baseball, basketball and the Super Bowl. You and Michael will always be in our thoughts prayers. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Ever since his funeral, I have kept Michael's prayer card beside my desk. I think of him often and hope he and my son are now playing ball together. I know Derek would have liked that. Please know that I think of you often and pray for you, Michael, and all your family. I also thank you for trusting me enough to allow me to walk down this road with you. I have been blessed as a result of knowing you.
"Kathy, I didn't know Michael, but I got to know him through the stories you shared with me of your incredible adventures with him at the Super Bowl and the many other sporting events the two of you went to. It was always obvious that you and Michael had a very very special bond. Our thoughts and prayers are with you."
"My fondest memories of Michael where when you came home from work. His eyes lit up with pure love for you. Michael was a wonderful, amazing person and I know that I am a better person because of my connection to him and you."
"Kathy this is beautiful! We were all so blessed to have had Michael in our lives.
My favorite stories of Michael were with our events at IBM. As always, we put on such wonderful events packed with family and friends. We needed hands to help do just about anything and everything. Michael was amazing! He came early, worked his tail off and then told me how much fun he was having while we cleaned up everything. He was so happy to be at IBM and help us do everything! I am sure he got that spirit and motivation from his amazing mother. I have pictures in my mind of him dressed up as a baseball player for the Halloween event. I'll try to find them so everyone can see the glow that has always surrounded Michael.
I also know that Aria (my golden retriever) was so glad to come with me to visit Michael although Duke may not have loved having another dog come to visit.
You are a wonderful and loving mother. Thank you for creating this memorial website. As I said, we are so blessed that Michael was in our lives, and we continue to be blessed with you.
Love you ! Merrilee, Paul, Chris & Matt Tomlinson"
"Kathy...I didn't know Michael but I've been blessed to know you and your wonderful family for a lot of years. He was obviously an outstanding young man whose life was a gift from God that touched so many during the brief time we were allowed to have him here. We can only hope to someday understand why God needed him back Home so soon. I believe, as I know you do, that you will hold him in your arms again someday. In the meantime, thank you for showing us what true grace and beauty under pressure is supposed to look like. You've ministered to all of us in ways you probably don't even know. May God bless you, Michael, and your entire household!"
"Michael looks like such a treasure. He was born the same year as my grandson, who has now entered college. I cannot imagine life without that boy.
I lost my adult son as a result of a horrible house fire in June of 2014 and the pain is unbearable. I cannot imagine yours.
I wish I could offer you some magic words of comfort, but there are none.
Hang on as I am sure your son would have wanted.
We are part of a club that we never wanted to join."
