This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Robert (Bob) Awoloye-Kio . We will remember him forever.

The London Tari Club (Lontar Club for short) has created this website in memory of our dear friend for decades of years, Barrister Robert (Bob) Awoloye-Kio, aged 66 years, born 25th December 1953 and joined his ancestors on 16th July 2020.

In creating this website, we are hoping that this will give all who know and knew Bob across the globe, the opportunity to leave their condolence message and words of sympathy for the family, now and on every anniversary of Bob’s death.
It is the intention of the club that this website will be available for evermore, reason we’ve gone for the “lifetime membership” option.

We, the members of  the London Tari Club (Lontar), with our entire families, wish to extend our deepest sympathies on the shocking loss of our beloved friend for decades of years, brother, husband, father and current President of the club, having been elected at our last AGM, 2019.

Words cannot describe how devastated and grief-stricken we are to know that you are no longer with us, just as we have so many plans for the future.

Bob, you will be sadly missed by the Lontar family and many who know you, especially your family and friends.

You were an amazing friend, gem of a husband and father, an exceptional human being.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Rose, your dear wife and daughters.

We pray that your precious soul rest in perfect peace.

We would normally gather at your home with your wife, Rose, and family to celebrate your Birthday in the late evening of most Xmas days, after recovering from the traditional family turkey munching, heavy lunch & Xmas puddings.

We had our good times; good old days, with sweet memories.

Remembering a dear buddy of well over 30 fabulous years of munching, grooving & cracking jokes together. Lontarian Robert (Bob) Igonibo Awoloye-Kio .....Christmas Day, 25th Dec, was your Birthday.
We all would’ve traditionally gathered up at your beautiful abode to relax & celebrate with you on Xmas evening - after all the family turkey & Xmas puddings, etc, at our individual homes.

With you gone only a few months ago, that aspect of our normal Xmas tradition that we, your friends, had become so used to, is now gone with you. Things of this journey of life that we all take for granted!

Yeap, you’re gone but not forgetting. We will always remember & celebrate you this time of the festive season, always.

Happy 67th posthumous Birthday, Lontarian Bob.

Do, continue to rest in perfect peace in that other side of the universe you now are with your ancestors

I was saddened to hear the news of Igonibo Awoloye-kio's death. A rather unfortunate and inexplicable situation. He was in a class of first Nigerians to establish viable law offices in London.

Sleep well my brother. And thank you for providing a bridge, which enabled many of 'our people' access to the mainstream legal sector.

Igons, it is very difficult and painful to think of you as gone. The sadness and tears are too much to bear. The event today made it real. My family and I can only say Good Bye to a good friend, cousin and confidant.

This isn't something I thought I would be doing, to say that I'm shocked and deeply saddened is an understatement.
I was lost for words and overcome when I learned of uncle Bob's passing. Uncle Bob was a cherished friend to my family and was very good to me personally. He always asked after me and showed me genuine love and concern and I sometimes wondered what I did to deserve this. Through a very difficult time uncle Bob told me that he prayed for me and he knew that good things were in store for me. I don't know if he knew how much I appreciated his words and him caring in the way he did but it meant the world me and still does.
I don't know what to say, I pray for the loved ones you left behind and that God holds them close and provides them with His love and comfort. You are missed tremendously, rest well uncle.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Uncle Bob. Uncle has been a close family friend for over twenty years and he has always shown interest in us as the years went on. I consider him as a member of my family though we are not related by blood. My heart goes out to Aunty Rose, his children and his entire family.
May he rest in peace.

Igoni you have left us in utter shock. It is unbelievable that we can no longer share jokes and philosophies of life. You were so enthusiastic when matters of academia were the the subject of discussion.

You have a heart of gold that is irreplaceable. The memories of you will never be erased.

Sleep well Lontarian Bob

TRIBUTE TO IGONIBO AWOLOYE-Kio Esq.
Dede, as we sobriquetly call ourselves.....It’s an indisputable fact that death is a necessary end but if only I can borrow gargantuan mouth, I’ll say yours was “too soon”. I’d attempted a couple of times to put a call through to you to jig you up with our ancient and funny jokes but only to remember that I cannot reach out to you again.......so sad....but well, its God’s case so there’s no appeal; as such no one can question The Almighty God. You were the epitome of a reliable friend to me and I now believe the saying that LIFE AT BEST IS VERY BRIEF.......TOO SHORT TO BE LITTLE.
Sleep on Dede.....we shall meet again some day some time but until then I’ll encourage myself with the fact that ‘YOU’RE AN ENDURING MEMORY’.
Adieu and fare thee well.

Eulogy for a loving husband, father and brother: Barrister Robert Igonibo Awoloye kio
Forever in our hearts.
I recall that fateful Thursday night when I heard the news of your passing. It is painful to imagine that we will not see or hear from you again. How sad. My heart is heavy. My tears still flow anytime I think of you. It’s hard to believe. Your death is a painful truth that we will learn to bear.
On the same token I take solace in the knowledge that nothing happens without the approval of our heavenly father. God has called you from this valley of tears and translated you into everlasting rest. We cannot question God. He knows why he called you home at the prime of your life. Brother Kio (as I fondly called you) it has pleased God that your earthly journey is complete. It is time for you to come home. Thus we are grateful to God for your life. You will always remain forever in our hearts.
I pray that God grants us the strength to bear your loss. May God grant your family the strength to bear your loss. I pray that God grant you eternal rest. May perpetual light shine upon you. May you rest in peace.
Rest well Brother.
Forever in our hearts
The Chuku Family.

In Memory of Uncle Bob

August 2, 2020
It was shocking to hear about the passing on of Uncle Bob.
I met Uncle Bob and his family through my brother, Mr Steve Benamaisia and since then Uncle Bob and his wife (the lovely aunty Rose) have been like a family to me.
He was so helpful, kind and pleasant to be around. I remember the endless parties where we all danced, dined and laughed like there was no tomorrow.
My heart goes out to Aunty Rose, his wife, who adored her husband and I cannot imagine how she will begin to cope without him.
I pray that God gives her the strength and wisdom to carry on the vision of her husband for their family.
A big thank you to LONTAR for putting together this beautiful gesture.
My heartfelt condolences to his wife and family.
