The road you've traveled along
was all your choice.
You sang a great song
with your soft spoken voice.
What I mean by a road
is what you walked every day.
You've made people happy
by leading the way.
Your road has helped me
reach up to the sky,
not down below
where I could not fly.
Now has come a time
when you've got to move on,
to a life in peace
that you have deserved for so long.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA,
I wish you were here so we could share a bowl of "French Silk" ice cream together. I bet grandma would have given us an extra scoop for your birthday! I miss you very much.
Love, Your Grandson Austen"
"Dear Steve, today is your 73rd B'day. There are so many things I would
love to talk about. You know how we tried to outdo each other with
the "story of the day." There's not a day goes by without my thoughts
of you. You're in my heart. I love you. Barb"
"To: The JamesFamily,
Just heard the sad news from Wayne Brown.
Like Wayne, I had the pleasure of being a business associate of Steve's
way back in the 1980s. My best to the entire James' family."
"Michelle and family,
I'm sorry that I never had the chance to meet your dad. I can see his smile in yours and Austen's. May the memories of the time you spent together bring you comfort in this difficult time. WE are here for you.
Amy and family"
"Michele and Family,
A great man was lost on December 2nd. I am so sorry for your loss. I smile every time I think back on when he flew over to CWU just to take you for a plane ride and you let me go with you. I bet he is flying with the angels right now and showing them a thing or two. Hugs and prayers sent your way. Love, Tess"
"I will miss my friend of so many years. Steve was my friend from our early years in junior high school through college and continued through the last 60 years. While our lives went in different directions, when we came back together it was as if no time had passed. We even noted on our high school 50th anniversary that the level of comfort was the same even though we were seventy and not sevent"
"Barb, Chris, Michele and family.
So sorry for your loss, you all are in our prayers.
John and Judy Collins"
"Michele, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. Our prayers are with you and your family. I'm so glad I was able to meet your dad. Such a kind man and an obvious pillar of strength for your entire family. I especially loved watching him with Austen. Anyone could see how much he dearly loved his grandson! Austen, your peom is beautiful. With love, Angie"
"Grandpa, remember when we hunted for golf balls in the pond or how we would sneak in cookies when grandma wasn’t watching? Or all the times we sat eating ice cream and watching ‘Wheel of Fortune.’ Those moments I will remember forever. I want you to know, that you will always be in my heart. I love you Grandpa.
Your Grandson, Austen"
"Dad, you have taught me so much about life. Now when I stand on top of that ski hill, you will no longer be at the bottom coaching me down, but watching from up above reminding me of which way to turn, not to go too fast, and to enjoy the run. Your spirit lives on when I see a part of you shine in my boys. I will always keep you close and be forever grateful that you were my dad."
"Steve, my best friend, we were blessed in so many ways in our journey
together. Thank you for all we shared as we grew in wisdom & love.
Life will be empty without your voice calling, "BARB". My heart is
heavy as your are the love of my life. Forever, Barb"
