With profound sadness, we announce Anita passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at the age of 56.
Anita courageously invoked MAID as an alternative to a predictable outcome of her Posterior Cortical Atrophy diagnosis and prognosis, over coming years. She and her family are grateful to live in a country which provides individuals such freedom of choice.
Anita was born March 25, 1962, in Toronto to Arvo and Vaige Niitenberg, and married to Erik Luksep, her beloved and devoted husband of 36 years. Together, they proudly raised daughter Karina (24) and son Kristian (22) to become loving, thoughtful, self-confident adults.
Anita is survived by Vaige, Erik, Karina and Kristian, her sister Linda Liik, and extended family, all of whom will cherish the beauty of her soul, her intelligence, values, integrity, and depth of selfless love and compassion forever.
While ceaselessly devoting herself to family and fun along the way, Anita achieved a remarkable 30-year career as CPA, which spanned increasing roles at Ernst and Young, Nesbitt Burns, BMO, GE Capital Real Estate, and culminated as Vice President Finance at Eastbourne Investments.
Anita also achieved numerous awards and recognition for her accomplishments, resulting from her professional work ethic, integrity, and respect, both given and received.
The family wishes to express its sincerest gratitude to Dr. Sandra Black, Brill Chair of Neurology, University of Toronto and Sunnybrook Hospital, and her Team.
To honour Anita’s memory, donations would be gratefully received by Sunnybrook Foundation, to support Dr. Sandra Black’s research in neurodegeneration and dementia: https://donate.sunnybrook.ca/tribute.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Donalda Golf Club, located at 12 Bushbury Drive, North York, ON M3A 2Z7.
