Barbara Alice Lawson, age 62, died on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at home with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. She died battling stage 4 lung cancer.
She was born to the late David Lee Lawson and Orpha Lilly of Virginia, and was also the step-daughter of the late Clinton Lilly.
Barbara met her companion (late) Ronald A. Valenza in 1985. They worked together as Public Adjusters for so many years, until he passed away from cancer in April, 2000.
Barbara helped raise her granddaughter Alexis while her daughter worked. Barbara enjoyed going to the Cape May County Zoo and Hershey Park.
She leaves behind her son David, daughter Patricia (nee Scott), 1 son-in-law, her grandchildren, Toni Lynn, Amos (Trey), Alexis (Joey), Angelo, Brady, Isabella, Romello, Tyasia, great grandchildren, Colton, Savanah and Sebastian.
She also leaves behind 5 brothers, 4 sisters and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Barbara’s service was held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at FERTIG FUNERAL HOME, Mullica Hill, NJ.

Today makes 3 years you have been gone! And It hurts more and more , I see myself thinking about you more than usually! But I gotta remain strong ! We all have moved our own directions, Alexis has her own apartment now I’m excited for her . She had a great job,,( but you know things happen) she is doing good, got her self a newer car. Scott and I live by ourselves ( Lexi lives over top of is. ) that’s okay. ROMELLO moved to Millville with his girlfriend! I don’t see savannah anymore ( some stupid stuff her monm did)) Tony is okay he see the kids more and doesn’t work at penn medicine anymore and he got a new car also . I had surgery and I’m healing okay still hurt but I’ll be okay!l lee is locked up which is good for him! I LOVE AND MISS YOU SO MUCH!!! I see myself having a break down a lot and can’t seem to get rid of your stuff! Missing you like crazy

Mom, I miss you so much! Today marks 1 year you have been gone, I do try an go on with me life but you was part of the great memories we shared! I just wanna let you know that your Granddaughter Alexis graduated from high school yesterday 7/17/19) An I'm very proud of her, and I know you are to! Hard work pays off.

Hey bobbi...so miss you...i just wanted to tell about fond memories...i remember one that when we went to the two room school house. A very different time..but is awsome to talk about...their was two teachers. two cooks ..one teacher for k-6..and the other side was 7-12...they used us for the current curriculum at that time....made us look like a genius....fun times..we stayed at uncle Fred's,than that's where you were teaching me how to ride a bike...you were supposed to stay on the back..but no you jumped off and let me go,i didn't realize it tell after i crashed,thanks,, but really we had some fun times..some not so fun. Thanks for the good memories..i cherish them...always will be missed !! Love cathy
