We have had the joy of knowing and working with Bill on VIM teams......what a guy!! His sincerity, hard work, wit, and humor was always a positive example to others, and we are blessed to have been among those "others"!  May fishin' in heaven be the greatest!!

Gayle & I came into Phoenix early last week to be sure we had a chance to tell Bill how much he meant to us. We are so happy we were able to see him and thank him face to face. As usual he was his modest self and disclaimed the credit. Not only was he a rock for me to lean on when my life was pretty shaky, he was responsible for Gayle and I finding our great love. REST IN PEACE OLE FRIEND

Bill,

You were my father when I had no other. You were my friend, my advocate and my teacher. Your mission work done has inspired me and shown me what it means to be rich. Money can not buy the love and admiration and respect that you gained from those you helped. Rest my friend

To the family of a VERY DEAR FRIEND.  I am and will be missing Bill for a LONG time. He was always present on our VIM teams and he certainly made a difference. He gave us MANY laughs, and we could always depend on his being there with us. We will have to figure out who brings the 'donuts' now that Bill is not with us.. THANKS Bill, for some wonderful memories!!

We got to know Bill when he joined our Volunteer In Mission group several years ago. He was a great addition to the work teams - always ready to do anything asked of him, even the hardest, dirtiest work. He provided a lot of fish over the years for our pot luck dinners! We all loved him, teased him and will really miss him. VIM teams won't be the same without him. Bill & Janet Ward

Bill's twin personality (he was a Gemini after all), is how I will always remember him. He cared about the human SOUL through his servant hands; and he cared little about his shoe soles except for the occasional strip of duck tape. Bill, may your soul be at peace and the soles of those you mended carry on your good work. Your sis, Margaret

I remember teaching with Mr. Johnson at Reeds Spring Elementary.
He made me feel welcome as a new teacher when I started several years ago. I also had his granddaughter Jennifer in class that year. He would always have supportive words to say and check on his little darling Jenny.

It was just a year ago that we shared the "homeless shelter" in San Marcos and ate breakfast each morning together at the Southside Community Center. You provided such a positive attitude and were such a hard worker with the VIM group. We enjoyed sharing these experiences with you and will miss you so much! Charles and Betty

We consider Bill a close friend. We got acquainted in Greensburg on a VIM team. From then on we looked forward to working with Bill. Most of all Bob enjoyed fishing with him. The first thing they did at a new site was to look for a fishing spot. The fishing trip to Minnesota last summer gave us many stories to share. Bob and Diane Thompson

I always enjoyed getting to see Bill when we were at Sally's. He was always so nice and I enjoyed talking to him. Even though I didn't know Bill very well, I know that he loved the Lord and I will see him again in heaven one day. This website is an amazing way to remember your dad and help his memory to live on!

Bill always said that he came to Wichita to "get a little culture." Margaret and I made him sit through some dreadful documentaries and plays. He was always polite with his reviews; but I knew he'd really enjoyed himself when we saw "Kinky Boots." He laughed hard. Bill's wild tales mixed with family stories outdid any fiction I've heard or seen. He brought his own "culture" to our house.
