When you spoke with Bob Livingstone and
asked him how he was doing his reply was always the same, `Well my
names not in the paper and I`m still able to take nourishment` It
was his lead in phrase for each and every time he greeted us. Well
it is with great sadness that today you will indeed see his name in
the paper.
Robert Dougald (Bob) Livingstone passed away May 17
2018. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Helen
Georgina (Rosebush) Livingstone on May 17 1998. They both left us
on the exact same day 20 years apart. They were married on Christmas
Eve 1954 in the town of Dunbarton Ontario and shared a long full life
together.
Bob was blessed with 5 daughters and no sons.
He always joked about being the only man and complained about his lifelong
struggles trying to get into the bathroom but we all know that he
loved being the king of his court and having his castle full of
princesses. He leaves behind (in order of appearance) Judy(Judith)
Vera Darlene Livingstone of Peterborough ON, Mary Elizabeth Curtis
and was preceded by son in law Tony Curtis of Tamworth ON, Pat
(Patricia) Anne DeWit and son in law Peter DeWit of Paris France,
Robin (Roberta) Germaine Morey and son in law Steve Morey of Ucluelet
BC and Sam Helen Marlene Livingstone of Ottawa ON.
He was
Grampa, Bompa, Papa to Shannon (Curtis) Lyman, Bill Olfert, Ryan
Jones, Josiah DeWit, Jordan DeWit, Joel DeWit, Amanda DeWit, Alycia
DeWit, Heather Morey, Holly Morey, Robert Patterson, Corrie Patterson
Grant Lauzon, Anthony Livingstone and Brady Livingstone. He was
Great Grampa to Chelsea, Emily, Maddy, Jarod, Bradley, Owen, Chloe,
Alex, Cameron, Liliana, Addylin, Aiden and Kinley with two more
babies on their way.
He also leaves behind Anne Livingstone of
Rogersville NB, his second wife who he married in France on September 24 2004. They lived together in a beautiful rural home and were happy. She was there to hold him and see him leave this world.
He was Uncle Bob to nieces and nephews too numerous to
mention and along with Aunt Helen they kept an open door open arms
policy and saw many come to live and visit.
He loved music
and would sing even though his young daughters used to tease that
daddy sounded like a bull frog. He wrote poetry, beautiful lyrics
lovingly put to tune by friends and sung by his daughters. He loved
to joke with children about his missing finger and how he lost it.
He transported kids to Sunday School every week as volunteer bus
driver. He was a veteran of the Korean war, signing up when he was
20. He made ice rinks in his back yard, made fudge on a Friday
night, he passed you Life Savers candies and little pads of paper and
pens when you got fidgety in church. He laughed heartily when
watching M.A.S.H and Archie Bunker and never missed the news. He
loved being outside, fishing, hunting the moose he never shot, the
bear he tracked for days, the one his daughters scared away because
they didn't want to see it die. He loved his canoe. He loved the
outdoors and was still chopping wood and working in the yard, making
repairs to his house even though he was nearly blind.
If you
knew Bob you knew that his family tree was such an important part of
his life. He was driven to record his history, hours spent lovingly
and meticulously documenting names and dates representing the lives
that led to his. We encourage you all to leave your memories of Bob,
your stories. He would have loved that.

Leave a tributeThere's a special kind of feeling when I think about you dad,
It's a pleasure to remember all the happy time's we've had.
There's a special kind of caring that is meant for you alone,
There's a place somewhere within my heart that only you can own.
I will love you always,

Dad
You held my hand when I was small, you caught me when I fell,
The Hero of my childhood and the latter days as well.
Every time I think of you my heart just swells with pride,
And though I will always miss you dad, I know you're by my side.
In laughter and in sorrow, in sunshine and in rain,
I know you're watching over me until we meet again.
I will love and miss you always,
