TRIBUTE IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY DEAR DADDY & BUDDY SIR DAVID LANIPE OMO AJAGBANGBA SOREMEKUN.
"To err is human but to forgive is divine".
Really Thank The Lord for seeing you through the ripe Age of 103 in good health and sound mind which indeed is a very rear Grace ( one in a billion!!)
Had the privilege to be very close to you from a very tender age and through the wonderful and homely times we the sadipe children and Gran children experienced during our growing up years from the early 60s into the year 2000! And this would not have been if not for your better half our dear Aunt and Mummy, Mrs Victoria Alake Soremekun who created a 'family house' for all of us( both known and unknown) with her large heart at both 27 Maye Street Yaba and later 11 Obokun!
And of course with your support everyone was welcomed and well treated with utmost respect, loved and acceptance!! And Thank God that no doubt My ample opportunities was well utilized ( when it was needed ) and also learnt from the wealth of your life's experiences most times I was there .
God heard and honoured our Prayers for you even after Mama left over 20yrs ago ( knowing how close you both were).
And glad to feel the warmth and connection again when we visited the last time.
You are heavens gain now and that's what we have always asked the Lord for and haven joined with other loved ones who have gone before
Daddy, sun re o till we meet on that resurrection morning and will talk it over in the sweet by and by

I remember as a young girl going to Ilupeju to visit Daddy Maye (as we often called big daddy) with my mum, aunt and cousin. I would watch Daddy Maye drink his tea and I remember telling myself i wanted to be like that, and now I'm a big tea lover. Those were really good times!

It's sad to know that Daddy Maye is gone now, but I'm very thankful to God for the long life he lived and the lives he impacted. I pray that Daddy Maye's soul will continue to rest in peace.

TRIBUTE TO OUR DEAR DADDY - PA DOO SOREMEKUN KJW

Eni Rere lo.
Pa Sir DOO Soremekun KJW fulfilled his God sent mission in life in many ways.
To mention a few of his attributes......
Papa was accommodating, kind, peace-loving, courageous, eloquent, trust worthy, jovial and friendly.
He excellently used his talents and life experiences to counsel, advise, guide and help others.
He had no secrets to hide - very blunt-
Papa played the role of a concerned and caring father to us the children of his late friend, Papa Choirmaster OO Falase in many ways....moral, spiritual, psychological, physical and personal- in order for us not to lose our focus in life... to God be the Glory, we did not.
THANKS FOR YOUR EFFORTS.
He supported all of us in no small measure, particularly our sister Ladun, during her life's challenges most especially when she was seriously injured in road traffic accident in 1989.
He went to the extent of claiming and getting accident insurance benefits legally for her free of charge.
Papa will ever be remembered for all he has done for us all and will greatly be missed.
We believe he is with the Saints Triumphant..Hallelujah

"Pappy Dave" we dearly love you with sincere appreciation, but your Saviour loves you most.
Keep on resting peacefully in the bosom of your Creator till Resurrection Morning.
ADIEU.
Ladun Otudero & Tunde Falase for
Late Sir OO Falase KCW (PH)'s family.

TRIBUTE TO LATE SIR. D.O.O.SOREMEKUN-A GREAT MAN,MENTOR,& PHILANTHROPIST.
Aside from the fact that,Sir.D.O.O.Soremekun and ourselves hail from great ruling houses in Sagamu, Ogun State,we can honestly testify that,Papa was very amiable,a mentor/advisor per excellence,a man of huge integrity, philanthropist, very eloquent, and his sense of humour was unparalleled, just to mention few of his numerous attributes.
Papa exhibited his philanthropic/humorous gestures 43years ago, during our wedding at WMMC,as he called us before the service, and handed two envelopes (containing substantial cash) to us individually and said, "that is your wedding gifts",and also that, "ko to nkan ni,mi o ba fun e,awun lon'jebe"(literally translated-a miser will never give;but rather laid claim to inadequacy of substance to give out).
Again,in the early 80s,when I,Bro. Dapo Sosanwo was the Secretary of the Local Youth Council at WMMC,and Papa's daughter Sis. Bose Soremekun was the Asst. Secretary, there was a sort of rancour among the out-going officers and in-coming ones. Papa had to wade in,and potrayed his mentorship/advisory prowess,as he called me privately and gave his sincere advice on the way out to quench the seeming ugly situation. He even went further to,correct an erroneous use of word(meditation instead of mediation),in a report that will eventually be presented at the 'Leaders Meeting ',and the situation was brought under control.
This tribute will be incomplete, without mentioning the fact that,Papa greatly encouraged and influenced our son Tope Sosanwo,in his Tenor singing career in the Choir at WMMC, Ago-Ijaye,as well as Deaconess Bola Sosanwo (after the call by the Holy Spirit) in her service to the church, right from the time she was a Lay Preacher.
There is no shadow of doubt that,Sir. D.O.O.Soremekun was a great man,and a man of the people.
He will be greatly missed.
Adieu Papa, till we meet again in eternity.
Bro. Dapo & Deaconess Bola Sosanwo.
For: SOSANWO FAMILY.

Papa was an enigma who journeyed the earth and left an enduring legacy. I owed my secondary education to his timely intervention and support especially the fatherly advice given. May the light perpetual shine upon his soul IJMN .

Daddy, Daddy... that's what I always called you. You trusted my instinct, and we had countless discussions when I returned from the United States. Even when life got busier, our bond remained strong.
I will miss you a lot. You are a rare Gem.
My late mom would always ask, 'Have you sought Baba Soremekun's advice?' Our conversations were timeless, bridging the 67-year age gap between us. Your wisdom and guidance were invaluable.
Your door is always open to me.. even if you are having your bath... you will say arakunrin oni fere (The man that plays the Trumpet) mo n bò ooo ( I am coming oooo)
Before I finally relocated in 2016, you were the last person I visited on my way to the airport, and after my studies, you were the first person I visited. You told me all would be well. You were so passionate about listening to my experience in the USA and giving me good times in our dear country, Nigeria.

You also supported my musical career by being one of the co-launchers for my first-ever saxophone with many others.

I will always remember your soft voice and historical thoughts about your late wife, friends like Pa. Bola Ige, your legal career, and your perspective on Nigerian law.

Rest in peace, Pa. Sir D.O.O Sorèmèkun KJW till we meet again to depart no more.

Yabarian, Last Man Standing!
We celebrate and thank our Almighty Father for the life of an extraordinary Yabarian, Pa Soremekun, who lived a remarkable 103 years. His long and fulfilling life was a blessing to his family, we his children, and community. Pa Soremekun's legacy is one of love, wisdom, and resilience. He walked among us, sharing his wisdom, love, and kindness with everyone he met. As a learned brother and colleague, I will always remember his advice when I was called to the Bar in 1988. I also remember his advice to us Yabarians - not to get angry with each and always be good and friendly. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire us to live our lives with purpose, kindness, and gratitude.

Rest in peace, dear Pa Soremekun. Your impact on our lives will never be forgotten."

Oh daddy!!!
The man I adored so much in my life, our loving patron per excellence Pa D O O Soremekun, our Knight of John of Wesley, a father like none in our church Ago ijaiye methodist cathedral, Lagos Central.
Young Christian league and other societies that were one of the works of your hand, will surely remember you for the tutoring when our youthful exuberant almost tear our society down, but your great and softly spoken guidance keep the society up till today. Daddy I will surely miss you, you are such a beautiful soul and I am happy to have come accept you as a father and patron to us. Duro, Bose Morinsola and others, e ku aseyinde daddy.
May daddy soul continue to rest in perfect peace with the saints. I will forever remember you for all the good work as a great patriarch of Methodist Church Nigeria.

Pápá Sir David O. O. Soremekun was a very strong man and very accommodating. His words of wisdom and understanding will be sorely missed. It was a great surprise for me to see him and members of Williams Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Ago-Ijaye, Ebute Metta at my induction service as Presbyter of Oke-Afa/Isolo Circuit on February 3, 2019. I was stunned. Papa has been a great consultant in many ways and his absence has created a great vacuum, difficult to fill. Rest peacefully in Abraham's bosom with all the saints who have gone before. May God bless your sweet soul.

Pa D.O.O Soremekun was a diligent and humble man who portrayed the characteristics of a good Christain. I met him through my dad, Late Engr Benjamin Jegede who was the the VP of Men Christain Union while Pa Soremekun was the President. His relationship with my late dad was so strong and inseparable. Pa Soremekun loved God and served him till his last breath. He was a role model to me and many young ones. Pa Soremekun was a peace maker and a philanthropist. I am very confident he is in a better place in company of the Saints Triumphant. Rest in Peace till we meet and path no more. Heaven just gained a worthy Ambassador of Christ.

Love you Papa ❤️

Hmmmnnnn......
Erin woooooo
Ajanaku sun bi oke.
Daddy Maye, later became Daddy Ilupeju.
He found favour with his maker, saw three generations, loved by his entire family.
Daddy was a disciplinarian but loving, witty, fun to be with. Although a Barrister at Law, of both the great and famous Lincoln and Gray's In of London. He was a great custodian of history. I learnt a lot from him. He had nicknames for us all.
He served his maker diligently unwavering till the end of his life. He was honored with the Knight of John Wesley (KJW). He traveled so much around Nigeria resolving and uniting churches and member going through challenges. Daddy was a great man. May God Almighty grant him eternal peace until the resurrection morning at Jesus's feet.

Mr Soremekun as my dad refer to him when we were growing up in the neighborhood.

He was an upright man; and a role model for all of us that are of age group with his children.

When he was still working he comes home to his family about the same time everyday.

He was a virtuous man, he allowed everyone in the neighborhood to come into his home to use his phone, when he was one of the few that has telephone in their home back then.

He cherished his wife, and treat us the friends of his son(Duro) the same way.

May God bless his soul and his memory be a blessing to us he left behind  amen.
What a wonderful and special life…we will forever miss you, you were an inspiration to all of us especially growing up in the neighborhood. You shared with us not only your passion for education but also the importance of learning to be a responsible individual and always being accountable at all times. Most us in the neighborhood are now grown (Yabarians) but we consider ourselves as your children….Dad - May your soul Rest in Peace…

CONDOLENCES! Our Great IROKO TREE has fallen at 103years. Baba D O O SOREMEKUN, KJW was my Church Class Leader in those good old days. I used to stand-in for him whenever he travels out of Nigeria for holidays in the United Kingdom on many occassions, and his recommendations to our Church Authorities made me a CHURCH LEADER many years ago. His Principled Stand, Definitive Candour, Unwavering Forthrightness and Dogged Commitment in matters affecting our People; and for these Virtures among others, I joined the TEAM OF ADMIRERS in heartily celebrating him. May his Beautiful Soul find rest in the bossom of our Lord Jesus Christ and may all what he has laboured for continue to be blessed in Jesus Wonderful Name, Amen. Also, may the Lord Almighty grant us all the fortitude to bear his transition, Amen- - DAYO SHITU, JP. -- President, Society Of the Brethren, W M M C,Ago- Ijaye, Ebute-Metta.

Papa: I have ran my race

It was on Bose's birthday in 2023, I met Papa, he welcomed me as if I was his daughter, told me stories about himself, gave me so many words of wisdom, and finally said my daughter, pray to God on my behalf that he should open the door, I am tired, "I have ran my race"
Thank God for Papa's life well spent.Adieu sir.
