Captain Blakely, 60, was lost on board Flight 3591on Saturday, February 23, 2019.  He was a pilot for 18 years, and flew for Atlas for the last three years. He leaves behind his wife, daughter, grandson, parents, sister, and brother and many close friends.  Captain Blakely lived in Madison, Indiana.  Having grown up in East Africa, he developed his love for international travel and became a pilot, which remained his true passion.  His family also recalls his love of woodworking and art.  His fellow crew members relied on him for his mentorship, humor, and great stories.  Captain Blakely always took time to listen and lend a hand where needed, while offering words of encouragement.
