I will always appreciate the conversations I had with Grandma Carol. I always enjoyed the stories she would tell and loved the moments we could laugh together. I believe she felt her life was meaningful and knowing this brings me peace of mind.

Please accept my deepest sympathy Mary, Ralph, Anna, Kevin, Gifford, Damon and family. Although we lived in opposite ends of the country, Carol always stayed in touch with her Midwest family. Mom and Dad (Carol’s Aunt Beth and Uncle Dutch) loved her very much. I will miss our staying in touch but I know she is at peace and with our lord and savior. Death is not the ultimate tragedy. The ultimate tragedy is a life not well lived”. She lived it well! God Speed Cousin Carol. Love,
John Keller

Her Life

Carol's Naomi Ashcraft - Obituary - August 24, 1941 - April 16, 2024

April 26
Carol Naomi Ashcraft, age 82, passed away with family at her side on April 16, 2024, at the Alderwood Acute Care and Rehabilitation Center located in Lynwood, Washington.  Carol battled respiratory illness in the latter stages of her life, fighting to the end, she displayed grit and determination, both characteristics trademarks of who she was.

Carol was born on August 24, 1941, to Erwin Flewelling and Ruth Michaud-Flewelling in Alpena, Michigan.  Carol was one of three children, having an older brother Ralph, and younger sister, Mary.  When Carol was six years of age, her father, Erwin, moved the family to Seattle, Washington.  Carol was a Ballard High School graduate, class of 1959, and would live the rest of her life in the Seattle/Everett area.

At a young age, Carol developed a love for animals.  In her youth, and as a young adult, Carol was a competitive equestrian rider, spending much of her time at the horse barn caring for, riding, and competing with her beloved horse, “Wazon.”   Carol was very fond of dogs as well and, for a period of her life, made a career out of grooming and training canines, owning and operating the “Canine Grooming Center” in Woodinville, Washington.  As a subject matter expert in obedience training, in the early ’80s, Carol published monthly articles for the “Woodinville Citizen,” the local paper, under the tag, “Doggone It,” providing obedience training tips to residents.

Carol was a loving sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She cared deeply for her family and was always the first to comment on a social media post, proclaiming her "proudness."  Carol is survived by her older brother, Ralph, younger sister, Mary, daughter Anna, sons Gifford, Kevin, and Damon, and all her nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She will be missed deeply.

The family appreciates your support during this difficult time.  In addition, we would like to especially thank Carol’s “caregivers” Heidi, Diane, and Tina for the care and compassion they showed to our mother.  She loved all three of you so very much.  Services for Carol are being postponed until the summer of 2025 when all family members can be present.  Please take a moment to share any stories or fond memories you have of Carol.

When mom and I talked for the first time we realized how similar we were and we had a lot of the same experiences in life.  We immediately clicked and I felt so comfortable with her.  I very much enjoyed our talks.  I’m justsorry I couldn’t get out there as much as I wanted.   I will miss her so much ❤️❤️
