Born on May 4, 1929, to Suroline Macauley and Jacob Campbell from Murray Town, Sierra Leone, she was named Christiana Durosemi. She grew up in the western area of Freetown. And worked at the Diamond Mining Corporation (SL) for over 20 years; she retired and migrated to the United States to join her children.

Christiana celebrated her 93rd birthday on Wednesday, May 4, 2022,  and was called home on May 10, 2022.

She is survived by her children, Theresa Charles, Veronica Charles, Prince (Cecilia) Charles, Davidson Charles (deceased), Patrick (Karen) Charles, and Anita (Ayoola Olalemi) Charles-Olalemi. In addition, she was blessed with fourteen surviving Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and many relatives and friends from home and abroad.
