Obituary for Christopher (Chris) Lane Matthews, Sr
Christopher Lane “Chris” Matthews, Sr, age 69 of Hamilton, Ohio Passed away on February 17, 2020.
He was born on May 28, 1950 in St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri, the son of James William and Ruth Pearl Matthews.
He served in the US Army from May 30, 1972 to December 12, 1980. He worked for several companies before settling on becoming a store detective. He remained in that position for several stores until he became disabled in 2000.
He enjoyed working on computers for several years and also enjoyed gardening with his wife of 20 years. He also had a wonderful singing voice that he never used to pursue a singing career. He was an avid music listener and was very prolific about music. He could tell you the name of the song, who sang the song, who wrote the lyrics for the song, the year it came out, and also if it was a one hit wonder or not.
On June 12, 1999 he married Robin Jane (England) Matthews. They were married on Natural Bridge in Slade, Wolfe County, Kentucky.
Chris is survived by his wife, his children: Christopher(Amanda)Matthews, II and Nathan Matthews; his step-children Kenneth(Kimberly)Redding, Jr, Sean Middleton, Jesse(Rachel)Middleton, and Brandi(Christian)Ramirez; Grandchildren: Chloe, Sophia, Mason and Myles Matthews; Kylee, Kaela, and Kaitlyn Redding; Emberlynn Rhoden and Xayden Ramirez; his siblings: Sharon(the late Ray)Martel, Jennings(Cora)Matthews, Rebecca(Greg)Kitkowski, Ricky(Penny)Matthews, Jaqueline(Dan)Tamte and Rodney(Tres)Smith, his sister-in-laws Barbara Hesselmeyer and Diana Matthews, also several nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; Virgil Glenn Hesselmeyer, Jr and James Allen (Red) Matthews; one sister Laura Mae Warnecke and one nephew Johnny Mager

Visitation and Services will be held Monday, March 2, 2020 at 11am until the time of the service at 1 pm at the Hamilton Dream Center, 725 Campbell Ave., Hamilton, Ohio 45011.

Cremation will follow.

There will be a celebration of life also immediately after the service in the hall of the same building.
