"The Judges Judge"

September 23, 2020
*As we Remember Justice Oputa- Sept 22nd 1924-- May 4th 2014,these are what Notable Nigerians said about him*

" The years Hon. Justice C.A Oputa- and myself spent together in the Supreme Court are indeed mermorable"

Justice Mohammed L. Uwais GCON, Former Chief Justice of Nigeria.

" Justice Oputa.. Has made each imprint indelible; he has made each mark set on marble cast. He made them effortlessly without throwing his weight around. He made them with effectiveness, yet without what we now describe as a regular mode of behaviour, namely corruption"

Prof. Uche Uko Uche
A renowned Professor of Law.

" Justice Oputa is simply wonderful, he understands law in the most profound manner. He propagates law in the most legendary manner.. I know him as Nigeria's Lord Denning; the examplary Lord Denning, that is Justice Oputa"

Late Chief Gani Fawehinmi SAN- Legal Practitioner & Human Rights Activist.

" Justice Oputa is a highly intellectual person. He is in my view forthright, and has delivered some of the best judgements in the history of this Country's Judiciary"

Major Gen. Ike Nkwachukwu (Rtd)
Senator and Former Minister.

" Justice Oputa represents a particular value. Judges are of two types; there are Judges who write judgement on the cases before them and there are Judges who write judgements for other Judges. Oputa belongs to the second category. He is the judges judge"

Late Dr Pius Okigbo
Eminent Economist & former Economic adviser to the FGN

TRIBUTE

June 12, 2014

HON. JUSTICE CHUKWUDIFU OPUTA has been my role model ever since he grant ed the nigerian press interview.. In that occasion he spoke against attitude of the nigerian bigman amassing wealth for himself while his neighbours are wallowing in abject poverty. He opined that it was evil for one person to accumulate so much wealth at the detriment of the lagger populace. A situation where one man goes about with fleets of cars while his brother goes on foot was condemned by Justice OPUTA. We will surely miss you.  You  rreally affected my life positively. REST IN PEACE. Adiue

Tribute

Tribute We said goodbye to Papa a month ago. He passed away in his sleep on Sunday as graceful in death as in life. He was a true gentleman. A man of integrity who lived life to the absolute fullest. The man who inspired me and my imagination as a child and turned the world in to a magical place of wonder. He was the greatest Jurist Nigeria ever had. Church was very important to him and he was always dressed and ready 2 hours before service. But most of all he was kind, generous, treated people with love and respect and was a man of integrity. I am so very fortunate to have known such a good man. Even blessed to have loved, respected and admired him as my Grandfather. I respected that you never spoke ill of anyone and this is something I aspire to. I loved that you were such a good husband to mama. You made such a handsome couple and enjoyed life together to the full. The world felt a better place walking out in it with you. We all have so much to be grateful to you for. Thank you for your love of life so generously shared. For your acceptance, gentleness, softness and strength. For all the laughter, stories and great conversation. Papa, you were the perfect gentleman.
