His Life
May 8, 2017

Albert Cochise Diggs was born on January 20, 1957 in New York, New York. He was the youngest of seven boys born to Aidah May Diggs and Albert Charles Diggs. He enjoyed a simple childhood playing with his brothers, helping his mom cook and receiving stories and gifts from brothers who had already started working and living on their own. Nevertheless, Albert was somewhat quiet and more reserved than most people. He played football and ran track in his high school and enjoyed learning about all things.

Upon graduation from high school, he embraced his middle name, Cochise and was known by many. He matriculated into Northeastern University in 1975 where he majored in psychology. It was there that his relationship started and grew with Linda Florant who he knew of in high school but they had never spoken. At Northeastern his roommate was the brother of Linda's roommate so it was inevitable that they would come to know each other better.

Cochise and Linda were a fun pair who enjoyed singing and doing music together almost daily. They also would barter food from the cafeteria (Linda's job) for extra help studying (Cochise was quite the intellectual). They grew closer and closer by the year, and in April 1979, Linda and Cochise embarked on a life journey when they decided to get married.

Soon after their marriage, their family grew when they welcomed their first daughter Mai. Cochise loved his role as a father and husband and worked hard to provide for his family. He worked for numerous years in Boston, as a chemical inspector for DuPont and its subsequent companies before retiring early due to an on-the-job injury. Moving forward, Cochise supported various family businesses and continued to care for his family despite the challenges from his injuries. Throughout his marriage he and Linda had another daughter Trinity (1987) and a son Telian (1989). They also had the privilege of raising another daughter, Harmony (2002). Cochise also poured into the lives of many foster children, friends of his children and grandchildren along with Linda over there 38 years of marriage, most recently Zion, Micah, Tafari, and Tyler.

Cochise was also a man of faith all of his life. Raised Catholic, he departed from attending church regularly in his younger years but remained faithful to God. He encouraged and reinforced the Christian faith in his family life. He and Linda guided and raised their children to be faithful and imitators of Christ. He always stood strong on the foundation of the word and helped his children develop a healthy curiosity about its contents and their purpose. In November 2016, he decided to be baptized again as an outward expression of his faith. This was a great step for him especially acknowledging his reluctance to being in the public eye. Nevertheless, he decided to push aside his fear and follow his spirit.

Over his 60 years on this earth he found true joy in music and spending time with friends and family. As we say our goodbyes, we know that we will see him again soon and continue to have good times with him eternally as we have had on this earth.
