Though I am heartbroken from the loss of My Birdy. My Hero, My Heart, My Son, I couldn't be prouder of the man he is, and the protection he had/has for his brothers! I knew from the time he was born, that Curtis had the heart of a Lion, the soul of a Warrior, and a determination that could not be broken. Fear was not an option, protecting others is how he lived his life. Curtis found ways to make you laugh, when you wanted to cry, be happy, when you were really pissed off, turn the negative into the positive, and get you to achieve what you felt was impossible. Curtis knew no limits! One of the many things I love about My Birdy was the love he has for his brothers (Suicide Charley 1/7). Curtis once told me, "Mama, I love you with all my heart, I will always be with you, though when I am with my brothers they come first. I will protect them and get them home safely to their families, no matter what the cost." The Bond Of Brotherhood will never be broken, for this I am Forever Grateful!
