I work for Copan Diagnostics, the US office for Copan Italia. Cynthia was our legal counsel. She spoke Italian fluently and really understood the Italian business environment. I always had the most pleasant conversations with her. She was so intelligent and insightful. Also she was a genuinely warm and positive person. I was very saddened to hear of her passing. She will be missed.

I have had the privilege of working with Cynthia since we incorporated COPAN USA in 1994. She was an awesome experienced professional, guiding us through many years of successful business. We could always count on Cynthia!

She will be sadly missed but I hope she will continue her love for dancing in heaven.

My sincere condolences go out to all of Cynthia’s family and close friends. I am a retired paralegal and I had the privilege of being Cynthia”s executive assistant at Pavia & Harcourt for a few years. I told her this and tell everyone that she was the best “boss’ I ever had. She was kind, considerate and the sweetest person. She was generous, understanding and a great advocate for all of her clients. She loved working long into the nite and she thought me to love it too. Prayers for her restful eternal peace.

I'd gotten to know Cynthia over the course of many years of International Bar Association conferences around the world, and four years ago we were able to work together on preparing for and presenting an IBA session in Tokyo. She was an incredibly kind and generous lawyer, with great knowledge and a wonderful way of talking about the human aspects of solving our casework problems. Her enthusiasm about life, travel, and working with Italian clients was absolutely infectious, and I am terribly sorry that we've lost her so early. My deepest condolences to her loved ones.

Cynthia was a great lover of dance (and dogs) whose undying support was greatly appreciated and will be greatly missed. With joy and compassion and much hard work she furthered the mission of Career Transition for Dancers, and brought its awareness to a whole new level. Bravo! She will be missed....

I only met Cynthia at the IBA conference in Sydney last October. I wished I had known her earlier. She was a beautiful person inside out. While I am grateful I had the privilege of meeting her, I wish we could have realized our plan of meeting again here in New York. She will be remembered.

my memories of Cynthia date back to the time I spent at Pavia & Harcourt right after law school preparing for the Bar and being seconded to Pavia Ansaldo in Milano. I will never forget her beautiful smile and long braided hair in a pony tail when she walked into our office in Milano. she will be dearly missed.

I've met Cynthia when she was still with Pavia & Hartcourt in the early 2000's. I also met her in Italy a couple times for business as she loved the country and enjoyed speaking Italian. Cynthia was so much fun to talk to with her always incredibly positive attitude. A great person who will be missed dearly.

I knew Cynthia through a Yale alumni group. When we were getting the group off the ground about six years ago, Cynthia hosted meetings for us, and Schnader sponsored a conference we ran. She was a tireless advocate for the arts and education, and I am very sad she is gone.

I met Cynthia more than 10 years ago in NYC and then a few months later in Milan. Just two short occasions, speaking in English and Italian (a Language Cynthia loved and mastered very well).... but enough to realize how lovely a person Cynthia was. Happy and honoured to have met her.

Cynthia was so obviously special to all of us who were fortunate to be friends and classmates with her in Law school. Since I was basically a country bumpkin, I really had no interest in that great big city of NY--but we all knew that was her love and destination! On a business trip I had there, she convinced me to stay the long weekend and she would "show me the city." Did she ever, including going to her law office, a tennis exhibition at the Garden with Martina & Chris, and constant going to all these ethnic barrios and food spots...obviously I did fall in kind of love with NY as well. I confessed to her that I agreed it was great as she said--but only if you had the money needed to properly participate and enjoy!! Her smile, kindness and confidence were a true gift we all loved---to say nothing of her talent and intelligence. She will alway be remembered and wow was so VERY SPECIAL.

Sincere condolences to Cindy’s family.
Although I have not seen Cindy for many years I have fond memories of growing up with her as a next door neighbor and childhood friend. Even as a child she was confident, outgoing, curious, adventurous, intelligent, and an animal lover. The photograph of her reading with dogs typified her childhood habit of being a voracious reader and cuddling with her cat Tiger. Climbing trees, playing softball, creating a neighborhood newsletter, putting on July 4th pageants, going to the Minnesota State Fair with Cindy’s father, listening to musical albums on the Fischer’s record player were some of the activities in which we engaged as kids. It was a privilege to have been her friend.
With sympathy to Cindy’s survivors, Sharleen (Weinberg) Goldberg

I was privileged to know Cynthia as my friend and my partner for close to 12 years. That she was a fine lawyer is beyond doubt, but I always appreciated the time she took with me to discuss the issues of the day, music, art, restaurants . . . Every moment I spent with Cynthia was special, even (and perhaps particularly) when we were working. Her memory is a blessing for all of us.

I had the privilege to know Cynthia when she worked at Pavia & Harcourt's law firm about 18 years ago. Our relationship was mainly professional and I had the opportunity to appreciate her ability and capabilities as a lawyer. However, my memory is not linked to our professional relationship, but to our telephone calls. I often asked her about NYC, the weather, the people, the events and any other thing of this city that I love so much. I was very pleased to hear news from her. Cynthia was always in a good mood and her mood was so contagious!
I will miss her.

Cynthia and I met in 1991. We spent a lot of time together and had developed a love and respect for each other.  She introduced my now husband and me to Sonia Sotomeyer who in 1995 was the judge who married us. We were so thankful for such a beautiful and intimate ceremony which was orchestrated with Cynthia’s love. She is the one that made our special day complete, I love you, for all the wonderful things you’ve done in this life. Antonia

I met Cynthia many years ago, during her time with Pavia and Harcourt. Besides being a very valued support on legal matters, Cynthia has been a friend with her delicate attitude, so difficult to find this days. Thank you C for your good counsel, both as a friend and professionally. We’re especially glad that we managed to spend those precious days with you both in the summer of 2016. We fondly recall your passion for ice-cream and other similarly innocent shortcuts to happiness - yes, this is the word that best fits your aura ....and your legacy is undeniably characterised by that simple line posted here on this memorial page, “Never give up doing the right thing.”

Cynthia was my step-mother and when she came into our lives my world was blown wide-open. Over time she became a mentor and helped me in so many ways. She lived her life passionately, with no excuses or regrets. She was the classiest and hardest working person I've ever known. Thank you, Cynthia, because of you I chased my dreams, you taught me how to live with conviction and purpose. Thank you for introducing me to the arts, to New York City, to traveling, to living life the right way, and to working hard with confidence and integrity. But most of all, thank you for loving and caring for my Dad for all these years. We will keep an eye on him for you. You will never be forgotten and your spirit will live on in all of us, our children, and all those whose lives you touched. We will make you proud. I miss you so much. Love you. -Tim

I am heartbroken that Cynthia has passed away and because I carelessly had allowed so much time go by since speaking to her, I did not know how difficult these last days must have been for her and for Lan. Cynthia was an unstoppable and invaluable force for all of the passions she held. One of these passions was of course Lan, then there was Italy and Italian, and then there was her family, and mysteries, and too many others to mention.

One other enormous passion for Cynthia, was the world of dance in today's culture. In this regard, as so many of us know, Cynthia was unique in her expertise and formidable generosity. She adored our beloved and inimitable Maestro Zsedeny and was enormously helpful and endlessly giving to him during his final years. Cynthia and I shared so much time in ballet class together with others, that daily classes turned into years and like most families we all drifted in and out of each others' lives during the high and low points of very important personal milestones. Although at the time we were all largely unconscious of anything and anyone but ourselves; these moments are forever sacred for me and I know for others as well.

Cynthia was a very special, warm, and generous woman whose love of her friends and love of life was deep, nuanced, courageous and big like the very best people any of us have ever known.

I will miss her and her memory will be a blessing for us all.

Our lives crossed paths so many times over the last 45 years......it all started in the Pi Phi house, then you showed me around Florence when we were both students in Europe, and remember "Maestro" and our ballet classes during our single days in NY, then your visit to SF, and my visits to NY, and our many reunions through the years. I will always remain in awe of you, so smart and graceful and kind.....
