Sharon, how quickly time passes, as David has now been gone one year! I know that he never really has left, and that he watches over and protects you each and every day. On this beautiful sunny morning, let's remember his smile and passion for life, and as we do, we too will be at peace. Rick Dudek

I just learned of David's passing today and I offer my heartfelt condolences to Sharon, Jill, Heidi, Gretchen and Liesl. Although I have not been in touch with David for many years, I have only warm memories of him, Sharon and his daughters. David was that rare type of person one never forgets--a caring friend, a wonderful mentor and an astute businessman. In the 1980s, it was David who set me on the course to my first job in management consulting. The result of that career change, coupled with our shared love of entrepreneurship, continues to define who I am today. His was a true example of how one act by one person can have so many positive ramifications for others. My thoughts and prayers to Sharon and the family.

I didn't know David personally but wanted to share a message of encouragement. From what I can see in the comments he was deeply cared for by his friends and family. We can take comfort in knowing that there will be a time in the near future when Revelation 21:3,4 will be fulfilled and there will be no death, crying, or pain. Until then deep sympathy--- Julia

Dearest David, Truly a gentleman and a scholar if I ever met one. I am so honored and grateful to have known you and work with you. I have learned so much from you through the years and it is so very much appreciated. You gave me a confidence I didn’t know I had – you assigned me some projects that I thought impossible for me, and when I asked you “David, you do know that I have not done this before right, why are you assigning this to me? You would say “because if anyone can figure it out i know you can”, and by some grace I could accomplish what you needed. Thank you, David, for believing in me, listening to me and mentoring me, I will miss you, but never forget you. You will always be in my heart and mind and will miss my messages from D3! Sharon, thank you for sharing David with us, and making us all better for have known him. I love you both! Anna

Mr. Dalenberg was such a wonderful person. He always had a smile on his face and a positive attitude. He would always listen and show he valued what everyone had to say. I remember my transportation days, and how every time he was around he made time to stop by, say hi, and ask how things were going. I will never forget his kindness. I am struck with deep sadness hearing the news of David's passing. Sharon, you and David touched my life and the girls in a way that is indescribable. Whether it was in the living room discussing business, or hopping on the boat to go get ice cream. The joy and happiness being around you two can never be replaced. I'm going to miss the twinkle in David's eye when he would laugh. His along for the ride attitude when it came to your obsession of real estate. The stories he shared with me about your courting days. His passion when it came to business and innovation. But mostly my friend the love that he had for you, there was no mistake that David truly loved and admired you. I talk about you two all of the time because of the impact that you all have had on my life. My prayers are with you my dearest friend. Much love!

David and I had many encounters in the 6 years I have worked for CTL. He was always good for a laugh and he always had some good insight to provide. Be it in life or just a project we were working on he always knew what angles to look at. There was a time when I was working in the transportation department where David and I had to work closely together to accomplish the same goals. He was uplifting and intuitive and gave me the encouragement i needed to shine at what i was doing. You are going to be very dearly missed my friend. you we're nothing short of an inspiration to myself and everyone around you. My heart is with Sharon and the rest of the extended family. Rest in Peace David, we will see each other again one day, and when we do, I will finally be able to thank you for all that you have done for me.

While I only knew David from a professional perspective, I saw in him the warmth and caring for all those his life had touched. He and Sharon built more than a successful business, they helped hundreds of people, my own Father included, find value in their lives, often when they needed it most. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

My heart aches for Sharon and all those that knew David. His boats were probably the only boxes David enjoyed being in. In other aspects of his days, David was an innovative thinker who also had a gentle influence on those around him. I worked with David a few short years and he immediately made me feel like I belonged and often helped me to see perspectives that were beyond my capabilities. What I didn't realize was that he was not only helping me to grow professionally, but personally too. He didn't just touch your mind, but also your soul. I will miss David immensely and will have some fond memories and his coaching to hold onto.
