Help us celebrate the life of our beloved mother and friend!

In the wee hours of Memorial Day, our adorable mother passed away. We were with her all week long, and we were able to say our goodbyes in the most beautiful way. Absolutely nothing was left unsaid. It's all made more tolerable because we know she is now where she has wanted to be for a long time. And she is finally free of the frail body that was failing her so. Knowing she is free helps our heart, but the tears still flow. We love you, mom. You are our sweet angel.

There will be an intimate memorial service for immediate family.  We invite everyone to pay respects by sharing memories on this site.  We have also received inquiries regarding flowers or donations.  For those interested, please visit the Bible Study Fellowship webpage to see how to make a donation in her honor: https://www.bsfinternational.org/ways-to-donate.

"Such a class act! I loved Dolores very much even though time and distance separated us, I always thought of her with love and humor. She introduced me to kiwi in the early 80's and we laughed all through lunch that day. I can still hear her laughter.  Love her joy, her love of family and life. Even in tragic circumstances, we laughed together and got through a very tense time with humor.  So sorry for your loss Nikki, George and Jett.  For sure she will be missed"

"Like us, whoever had known Dolores will miss her a lot. Words cannot suffice to tell who she really was. A true christian, our dear friend MG was one of the kindest, respectful, honest, giving, and most loving persons we ever met in America.

She was so close to people, including ordinary people like me, Rose, one of her caregivers. Always grateful, she also was so compassionate and ready to give that she could not afford having meal alone at home without sharing with people around her.

With remarkable courage, she was ready to leave this world and meet her little Jesus as well as her other beloved ones she was truly missing.
You really deserve our tears and prayers, Dolores. R.I.P.

Your dear friends Rose and Nassy."

"We are grateful for having met Delores just about 11 years ago.  What a special lady!  She was so kind, considerate and gentle in all her ways. There was always a certain style and elegance that flowed from her that elevated everyone else around her.  If you wanted to have a clear and savvy opinion on any issues in your life, she was the one that you could be sure would give you the truth, but in a very gentle and loving way. She always told us to "say it with love".  She has impacted our lives in so many ways. We will miss her dearly."

"She was the epitome of elegance and grace, full of wisdom, strength, kindness, peace, love and joy. All of these qualities wrapped up in one person. That was my aunt. I'm always going to admire what a great lady she was. I'm so grateful that she was such a big part of my life, and for everything I've learned through her wisdom. I am so going to miss her incredible, infectious laugh. But I am especially going to miss all of our talks sharing about the Lord and His goodness. That was our favorite thing to do. She couldn’t wait to be with Him. And now she is with Him, experiencing His presence, in euphoria, forever. That's why I rejoice, and I'm so happy for her, because it can’t get any better than that. I love you aunt Butch. I will always miss you. Barbara Mahramus"

"As one of George's fraternity brothers, I first met Delores while we were in college at UA. We often swung by the Pihakis' home on our many trips to Birmingham, just stopping in for a brief visit. She was always so interested in our crazy college lives, asking numerous questions, and listening expectantly with a gleam in her eyes! I had to drop out of school in my junior year due to a severe illness and 9 weeks of hospitalization, and when I was finally released from the hospital, the Pihakis family took me with them on an excursion to Vegas over the Christmas holidays. What a treat that was!!! She was a woman of great dignity who lived life to the fullest and I believe left this earth with no regrets. What a fabulous lady! Blessings of peace and grace! Delores, you put much more into life than you took out of it...you will be remembered in the most endearing of ways!"

"She was the valiant mother to the end.  Always protecting her children.  She refused to leave until she was alone.  She waited until everyone left to get a couple of hours of sleep and even waited until I was out of the room for less than one minute.  She didn't want us to see her go.  She loved us deeply.  One of a kind.  Total class!  Love you Mom."
