His Life
January 12, 2015

Mr. Lord was born in Banks County, Georgia on November 14, 1924, the son of the late Myra Olivia Prickett Lord and Lewis Carlton Lord. After graduating from high school he attended North Georgia Trade and Vocational School where he became a Master Welder. With World War II raging his country felt him most valuable using his skills at the Brunswick Shipyard using his abilities to build the much needed ships. When the war was won he moved to the job of welding pipe lines across the country. The modernization that this provided made life in America much improved. His job also afforded him the opportunity to do something he really loved, travel. Where ever he was located he spent his time off investigating each new location and its history. He loved music and taught himself to play the guitar. Before his health declined he was a faithful member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir. He was a loving husband and father. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda and Vester Massey of Franklin, GA., daughter-in-law, Carol Lord of Baldwin, GA.; step-children, Bobbie Jean and Ken Kenison of Eustis, FL., George and Martha Prince of Maysville, GA., Jerri and Jim Warren of Lula, GA., Buddy Prince; two brothers, Wyatt and Pittman Ward both of Gainesville, GA.; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Lea “Peggie” Croft Lord; son, Donald Richard Lord, and sister, Velma Bennett.
