Missing Moma Dot for Christmas 2018

Shared by Greg Asbell on December 24, 2018

We will be playing dirty santa today in Dot's memory. She loved the game and we certainly miss how upset she would get if she lost the gift she really wanted.

Lots of fun and loving memories!

My sweet Nanny...

Happy Birthday Nanny! You've been gone for almost 4 months and words can't describe how much I miss you! I would give anything to feel your tight hug and hear you say "hey girl." I am thankful for so many memories that I had with Nanny. If I live to see my grandkids I hope I am an awesome grandmother like you were. I'm sure you prayed me through some stuff and I am so thankful for a praying grandmother . I will miss your sweet tea, chicken and dressing, talks on the phone about Jesus and eating with you and you asking me 10 or more times if I wanted your food. You were such a giver and so selfless. I pray I would be a giver like you. You were like my 2nd mother and it hurts everyday with you not being here. Can't wait to see you again and tell Jesus to come on back so we can all be reunited again. I wear your jewelry, makeup, and pajamas a lot. I think about you every time I put on jewelry and makeup and when I go shoe shopping. I think about the mornings I would wake up in your bed and smell cheese biscuits coming from the kitchen and how we use to go pick up cans or work in the garden. We would sit and shell beans for hours and I enjoyed being you every minute.

Nanny loved her family....every single one and prayed for them daily. She loved Jesusand ttheir isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about her. She was my Nanny, my grandmother, and my best friend. Gone but not forgotten...I love you, April

Ms. Dot always matched from head to toe as far as her wardrobe went.  She always looked lovely.  We were at church on Sunday, and it was back when the strapless, slip-on heel was very stylish.  I loved them but could not wear them because my foot would slip down to the end and out the front.  Ms. Dot looked pretty as usual that day.  She was dressed in a periwinkle color.  I looked down and she had those slip-on,strapless shoes on to match her outfit. I said, "Ms Doris, how do you wear those shoes, they won't stay on my feet.  She said, "Iris, I love shoes, and if Iike um, I'll keep um on there somehow!! She could wear anything and look good! But she was such a sweet person, who really loved the Lord!  I will never forget Ms. Dot.  She was such a blessing in my life!  Her love will live on in those who loved her! She will be missed by myself and all those who knew her! See you in heaven Ms. Dot! We are going to have such a wonderful time!!

No more heart ache for my Mama Dot!

I know there is already laughter and rejoicing in Heaven! Often times people leave this earth without leaving an impact on others. Dot not only left an impact, she left a rich heritage and many wonderful memories, especially for those who really knew her!

She often asked me why, this, or why that, what did she do, in trying to figure out, why with all her prayers for her family, what she might have done wrong or could have done better. She truley loved her family, friends and even a stranger in need would not get shunned. Besides calling out her children and grand children and great grand childrens names in prayer, She would pray daily, asking God to send any hungry sole her way that was in need.

As we watched Dot draw her last breath here on earth, she drew her first breath in the presence of the Lord. I am sure that Dot was met at heavens gate with "WELL DONE, MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT"

For the past 34 years Mama Dot has been the Mother figure in my life, and even more so the past 20 years as a next door neighbor. She was with out a doubt the most giving person I have had the privaledge of being aquainted with.  As you can see, from the many photo's we eat out alot, and she was notorious for trying to share what was on her plate with me and others.

She gave of herself to a fault, as a caregiver in caring for Jack her husband as his health was challanged for many years.

I am overwhelmed, by the thought of her not being a part of our lives anymore! Heaven is looking better and better by the moment!
