The daughter of the late Mr. Walter Kindred and Mrs. Melvin Pullins Kindred, Ms. McBride was a life-long native of Columbus. She worked as a domestic engineer for many years employed by The Wellborn and Briscoe families. She was a member of New Providence Missionary Baptist Church and a former member of Greater Beallwood Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health declined. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Carlos F. Williams.

Surviving are four daughters, Marian D. Williams, Freda L. Flowers (Walter), Roslyn M. Carson (Calvin), Deanna Whalen; two sons, Victor T. Coppins and Walter F. Jackson; two brothers, Elliot Kindred and Teddy Kindred; one sister, Anita McLendon (John); 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
