Earl Edward Thrower, 81, a longtime resident of Timberlake, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.

A native of Richmond Co., he was the son of the late Fred Ervin and Sallie Guinn Thrower. He was of the Baptist faith, he was an Army veteran having served in the Korean conflict and was a retired supervisor with Burlington Industries.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday July 17th, 2013 in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford by the Reverend Keith Williams and Rev. Jerry Hatcher. Burial will be in Amis Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Surviving are three daughters, Betty L. Davis of Oxford, Patty T. Jones of Raleigh and Cathy Rhyne of Salisbury. Also surviving are a sister, Emily Hodge of Semora, seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Johnson Thrower, three sisters, Brenda Thrower, JoAnne T. Bowling and Betty T. Collins.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Wednesday July 17th, 2013 prior to the service at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford.

Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford is assisting the Thrower family.

Earl our community will never be the same. You were such a good friend to everybody. You were especially dear to me and my lat husband Thurman. We both loved you like family. I will never forget you or your kindness. You are now in a better place. I'm sure you and Thurman are having a ball doing what you all loved doing.
