His Life

A native of Columbus, he was the son of the late Robert and Hattie Dubose Evans. He was a graduate of William H. Spencer High School, received his Bachelors Degree of Education from Albany State University and His Masters Degree from NYU(New York University). For over thirty eight years until his retirement, Mr. Evans taught in the Muscogee County School District, his last tenure being at Carver Elementary School. His affiliations saw him as a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the Georgia Retired Teachers Association. He was a member of St. Benedict The Moor Catholic Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ray and Darryl Evans; and a sister, Hattie Mae Powell.


Surviving are a loving and devoted wife of sixty one years, Mrs. Violet Averett Evans; a son, Anthony T. Evans(Deborah); three grandchildren, Christina Rae Evans, Brandford Michael Evans and Brandon Willis; two daughters-in-law, Vanessa Evans and Deborah R. Evans; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Scott and Hazel Washington(Herbert); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
