This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Eric Partain, 22, born on April 7, 1989 and passed away on March 29, 2012. He passed away to early and left the ones who love him dearly with broken hearts. But with his passing he taught us to be careful when we are around guns and that not to trust that the gun is empty.
One man is dead and another was critically wounded after an accidental shooting Thursday morning, according to a news release from the Laurel County sheriff's office.
Kevin McElrath, 25, was found dead of gunshot wound to the head in the kitchen of his home on Sally's Branch Road, one mile east of London, the release said. He was pronounced dead by Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling.
Eric Partain, 22, of Williamsburg was critically injured from a head wound. He was taken by ambulance to the London airport and then airlifted to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
According to witness statements, the shooting happened after McElrath removed the clip from a .45-caliber pistol and it accidentally discharged, hitting him in the head, the release said.
Partain was struck in the head with the same bullet.
