Erv died with his whole family by his side. On Thursday night before he died, we celebrated communion one last time and sang lots of our father's favorite hymns. On Friday we had a big family get together and had a family prayer around him. Later that night - into the early hours of Saturday morning, he died. We already miss him greatly.

Erv's funeral will be at 11:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church 1705 Oak Street in Bettendorf, Iowa on Thursday, December 6. There will be a luncheon following.

If you choose to give a memorial to honor our dad, he has asked that memorials be given to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal

Dad was orphaned at a young age and spent some of his early life as a lonely and hungry young boy. The Lutheran Church helped dad and his brother by giving them a place to live in the Children's home in Joliet Illinois. Bethlehem Lutheran Church became his church home. Our dad never forgot this and this shaped his life and ministry. He was always concerned about others and feeding the hungry.
