Evelyn was the sweetest lady you could ever know. She always found the best in every person she ever met. Her children and grandchildren could do no wrong in her eyes (and if you knew her boys, you would also know what a feat that was!). She loved her grandkids, and had a singular talent to relate to them on their level. no matter the age, which ranged from 10 to 19.
Evelyn had the quirkiest sense of humor, and she would laugh at the dumbest jokes. She enjoyed life as fully as she could. She loved music, her recent favorites being Celtic Woman and Under the Street Lamp. Mom loved to dance and sing. She painted and loved cultivating African Violets.
Animals naturally sensed a trusted soul and clung to her for comfort and strength. She cried with her children for all of their childhood pet losses, Mom worked as a receptionist at Quail Corners Animal Hospital. She brought solace to so many people and animals in 20 plus years. Polly, her and Dad's chihuahua, held a particularly important place in her heart.
Evelyn was an excellent athlete, too. She played golf, bowled, and played basketball and volleyball during her school years.
She filled her alone time with 1000+ piece jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and after getting her own laptop, computer games.
At the beach she loved the water for its freedom, the shells for their beauty, and the sky for its promises. Evelyn collected friends like she did the shells at the beach. She found beauty in every one whether intact, scarred, or broken. She gave advice when asked and hugs when not.
She was a nurturer, sounding board, and protector - MOM. She defined the word for her children and had room in her heart to include everyone lucky enough to cross her path.
Evelyn leaves behind a loving husband Tony, three kids Tony, Tim, and Terry, Two daughters-in-law Maria Rita and Lidia, and five beautiful granddaughters: Isavel, Fiona, Daniela, Sonia, and Christian.
Evelyn Wrobel was an exceptional woman, human being, wife, and mother.
WE were as blessed and loved as she was too.

I met Evelyn 20-25 years ago when travelling from Rome to Raleigh on a business trip. Tony was working in Rome at that time and he and I had become friends. He might have asked me to bring something to his parents, or bring something back, I don't remember, or maybe he just wanted me to stop by and say hi. So I went to his parents house one evening and I was really touched by their warm and friendly welcome. They insisted that I stayed for dinner and I had a very pleasant time. Evelyn was really sweet and made me feel at home in the most natural way. Every other time I met her in the following years I was always impressed by her way to care about everybody and by the positive feelings she transmitted and inspired. This is how I will remember her, with a big sweet smile on her face.
Tony, you and your family are in my thoughts. I hope your sadness can be lifted by memories of nicer times.
Big hugs, Mariateresa
