For my dearest Evelyn,

I count it an honor to have known you and been part of your life. Each time I saw you, I could sense your kindness and compassion. Your gentle spirit always gave me comfort. Aunty Evelyn, you will be dearly missed by family and friends, but I rest in the knowledge that we will meet again in heaven. Jesus' words assure me that when we leave this life, we go to a place that He has prepared for us. I truly look forward to be seeing you again. May the Lord give all of us who are left behind, grace and peace to carry on in your absence. Blessings to all who read this.

In Memory of Aunty Evelyn from Pam

November 5, 2016

What can I say about my precious Aunty Evelyn? Plenty. I have watched her all through my life. I marveled at her when I was aged five. Standing by the bridal seat and fanning the bride and groom. She was a beautiful lady. Born to a Thai mother and an Indian father, she brought a unique culture into our family.

I would glance at her at every opportunity I could get. All the time, I wanted to get closer to her. She had a warmness about her. The way she spoke and a caring heart. She loved her children, two handsome boys and a beautiful girl. She worked as a government servant while making sure everyone’s fed. Rising up early in the morning, she prepared the meals. She was quite the cook, and I loved everything she made. She taught me how to make English tea with the right amount of sugar and evaporated milk. Today in the USA, my son will not drink tea made by anyone except me. The recipe that Aunty Evelyn shared with me.

Aunty Evelyn has given me much advice, one of which is to always save for a rainy day. “You’ll never know when the “rain” would come down.” she would say. I know of Aunty Evelyn as a caring and giving woman.

As I grew up, we would have so much fun when we get together as a family. She loved playing cards for 10 cents a round. I would always have the winning hand, and that would make her quite mad, losing to a 10 year old. But her frustration turned into love when she saw me carefully picking up the coins from the table. She would ask me what I was going to do with all that money. Chocolates off course, and to share them with everyone.

Across the sea, I am always reminded about the time I spend with her. She attended our wedding with Uncle Peter in Oregon. We had a great time and I will surely miss her. Uncle Peter and Aunty Evelyn always had jokes to share, and we would laugh rolling on the floor.

Aunty Evelyn was a strong pillar. She had gone through many trials in her lifetime. The Lord touched her and she became a strong Christian woman. She loved the Lord with all herheart, sharing scripture with anyone she met. We are so glad that we got to spend time this summer with Aunty Evelyn and Uncle Peter. As frail as she was, she cooked for us. She knew her time was coming to meet Jesus. So did I as I bid farewell to Aunty Evelyn outside the gates of her home.

We received the news of her passing last weekend. I prayed and mourned for my dear Aunty Evelyn. I rejoiced in my heart seeing her frolicking towards Jesus, and a whole lot of angels welcoming her into Heaven! Here are my words for my dear Aunty Evelyn: Thank you so much for all that you have done, and for being a part of our lives! We love you with all our hearts! We eagerly look forward to meeting you again!
