ForeverMissed

This memorial website was created in memory of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunty and In-Law, Gladys Chukwuedo Okafor, 85 years old, born on June 8, 1938, and passed away on February 21, 2024

She was a beloved renaissance woman who bestowed an unending quest for inquiry, curiosity, and invention, in so many. She will be sorely missed for her unconditional love, and the sense of urgency she implanted in us to continuously contribute to improving humanity.

Mummy was the matriarch of our family and was devoted to her husband and her children. She was a fiery intellectual yet a warm and supportive mother, uncompromising in her ethics and values. She was ingenious, creative, and prolific in her many entrepreneurial pursuits and she instilled the same values in many lives.

We are grateful to God for giving her a long and full life allowing her to enjoy her children and see her grandchildren.

Aunty was like a second mom to me. Her son, Gozie, and I were best friends from FGCPH and I spent many hours in their house. She was so kind and welcoming and always full of positive advice and encouragement. Even after Gozie left for Canada, I would go visit her and uncle and I have wonderful memories of those visits to cherish.
Aunty, you have been a blessing to your family and to me. I thank God for your life that you lived. We will dearly miss you but we know that you are with the Lord. Adieu Aunty.

Tribute to my dear friend, Glad.

It came as a great shock to me when I got the call that you are no more with us.

I am more saddened by the fact that you did not recognise me the last time I visited so there was no opportunity to say our goodbyes.

We became friends and neighbours when we relocated to Enugu in 1973, Ifeanyi was just a few weeks old and you and Goddy welcomed me and my family with so much warmth. Being a young family yourself that just got back from abroad too, you helped me settle in quickly and we became inseparable from then on.

Our friendship was a very unique one, we were completely different in temperament and character but we always found a middle ground and we compliment each perfectly.

Glad, you were very supportive, very smart, adventurous and very creative. We raised our children together and we share so many pleasant and unpleasant memories, went through many challenges together. We watched our children grow up together into the responsible adults that they are today. You were always with me at all my celebrations. All the trips we made, first Gboko drop -off, the weddings, the grandchildren and even when we lost Gab.

As we were advancing in age, you always came up with new ideas of how to keep rhe body healthy and the mind sharp, new recipes, new diets.

I am mostly saddened that I will not be around to say send you off but je nke oma my dear friend till we meet to part no more.

TRIBUTE TO AUNTY GLADYS OKAFOR
Madam Gladys Okafor was a good aunty to me who gave me good advice. She was a born psychologist who gifted people around her with noble ideas that can assist them in problem solving. Aunty Glad was ingenious and her wealth of creativity is of inestimable value to the recipient. She was indeed a visionary entrepreneur of which I benefitted from her wise counsel. I thank God for the gift of Aunty Glad. May God bless her soul. Amen. May God bless and protect her husband and children and may her noble deed, love. Kindness and strength of character live on.

Tribute to my Auntie Pat ( Mama Ugo)

April 23
Life indeed is a journey,  when the journey ends, we will claim a great reward and find everlasting peace together with the Lord.

Mama Ugo as my siblings and I would fondly call her was a second mother to my siblings and I. My sisters, Adanma and I were her daughters.

Auntie was fiery, a disciplinarian, very creative and adventurous, she was also a very funny person.

I have very fond memories of how she used to cramp all of us in here Morris Mini and Volswagon Caravan most weekends for picnics at the park, zoo, Nike Lake before the hotel. Mehn, we played,  she kept us engaged. When all those places were no longer accessible, Auntie created our own mini games arcade in her compound complete with swings that we converted to monkey bars, mini gym, table tennis boards, bicycles and all the popular board games. Ofcourse, most games always ended in arguments and physical fights but Auntie always remained diplomatic and most times, comical when settling disputes.

Auntie was a teacher and an ardent reader so she instilled that discipline in us. Asides her impressive collection of Encyclopedia,  she made sure we had the latest Famous five, Secret 7 etc and the latest comics and thriller books for the older boys.

From baking classes to Dog grooming, Ice- cream making even Duck grazing etc, there was never a dull moment with Auntie.

Je nke oma Auntie,  as you rest in the bosom of the Lord.
