This site is in memory of our beloved Hannah Kathleen Turgeon who touched the lives of many, and is forever in our hearts. Please add to it with your thoughts, memories and photos.

Hannah Kathleen Turgeon, 27, of Denver, Colorado, was suddenly and tragically taken from us too soon while visiting South Bend Indiana on Sunday, October 13, 2019.

Born in Inglewood/Los Angeles California on Christmas Day, 1991, Hannah was the daughter of Paul and Debra Turgeon (nee Walsh).  She will be missed by her siblings Riley (Sarah) and Ella, grandmother Greta Walsh, niece Audrey Baird-Turgeon, Aunts/Uncles Laurie, Mimi, Leo (Mike), Steve (Jean), Mike (Mindy), Pat (Hope), Mark and Marilyn, and many cousins. She is predeceased by her grand-parents Doctors Leo and Kathleen Turgeon and James Walsh.

Raised in the Westchester area of Los Angeles, Hannah attended Notre Dame Academy Los Angeles and was active in the Girl Scouts where she earned the top honor Girl Scouts Gold Award. Hannah moved east and graduated in 2014 with Magna Cum Laude Honors from the University of Notre Dame. She was very proud to be amongst the third generation Turgeons to become Fighting Irish. After college Hannah moved to and worked in Chicago, then eventually relocated to Denver Colorado. She was most recently serving as Executive Assistant to Denver businessman and former state treasurer candidate Brian Watson.

Loving her new environment in Denver, Hannah spent plenty of time outdoors hiking and enjoying the Colorado scenery.  The beauty of her natural surroundings further inspired her creativity found in Hannah’s hand-crafted greeting cards business. A kind and loving individual, Hannah was loved by all who knew her. Hers was a young, happy life that was filled with friends and family, and with a bright future.

Hannah always kept her family closest to her heart, always in touch.  She connected with them frequently, whether flying home for family gatherings in southern California or joining in on family trips. Notre Dame football games were top of list, right up there with Hawaii.

Funeral mass will be held on Saturday November 9, 2019, 11am, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 7390 West Manchester Boulevard, Los Angeles CA, 90045. Reception immediately following in the Pastor's Plaza at St. Anastasia.  Many are choosing to wear blue, gold or green (or Notre Dame attire). The family welcomes this participation, which is completely optional.

Once fully endowed, this fund will provide much needed sup-port to students of McGlinn Hall – Hannah’s dorm, students from Los Angeles and Denver, and students who volunteer in local South Bend schools. While at McGlinn, Hannah started a big/little sister program with a local elementary school to “get to know the girls outside of the classroom so that we could better understand their needs inside of the classroom when we tutor them during the week.”

Hannah and I studied abroad in Rome in 2013 together. She was such a lovely, inclusive, warm, bubbly, and funny person. She was always up for any adventure and she brought joy and light to those around her. I am so sorry for your loss. She talked about her siblings and family all the time. Please know Hannah and your family are in my prayers.

Hannah was my freshman year roommate. In the summer before starting at Notre Dame, we traded EXTREMELY lengthy messages about our mutual love for The Office, favorite board games, go-to chocolate peanut-butter flavored snacks, and of course, Hannah’s love of Christmas. At that time, when I was so nervous to be leaving home and starting college, I couldn’t have asked for a better roommate than Hannah. She was the embodiment of selfless love, and it was impossible not to feel cared for when she was there.

I cling to the memories I have of her - dances, our spring break trip, the many dining hall meals and nights spent talking from our beds after the lights were out, football games and tailgates since graduating. These memories are bittersweet but ultimately fill me with that same special enthusiastic warmth that I will always associate with Hannah. I feel lucky to have known her.

Hannah and I studied abroad and lived together in Rome. She was such a joy to be around and was one of the bubbliest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. I can distinctly remember eating Nutella late into the night together, getting homesick together, and experiencing so much great art together. Her love for her family and friends was incredibly clear - she talked about how much she missed Ella nearly daily. I am so unbelievably sorry for your loss. Please know that her Rome friends love her.

Hannah was my daughter’s roommate at Notre Dame and close friend. Hannah (and sometimes Riley) came home to our house a few times on breaks and I got to know her well through those visits and when I would visit ND. She was the most fun loving, caring girl ever. I am so thankful my daughter had such a great friend.  Hannah was always laughing and having fun. I am deeply saddened by this loss. My condolences to all her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Hannah and I met while volunteering on a trip to Appalachia/West Virginia in the fall of 2012 and became fast friends - as she did with everyone she met. No one could make you feel so special just for simply existing. Every time we saw each other I was greeted with a screech and a giant hug far bigger than her petite frame should've allowed. In West Virginia, we hosted a Christmas dinner (in October) after finding some Christmas decorations in storage just because it was Hannah's favorite holiday. That kind of joy and unabashed enthusiasm for silliness came across in everything she did. Hannah, I love you so much and will do all that I can to make everyone I come across feel as special as you made me feel.

I am terribly sorry to hear of Hannah's passing. I knew of her as one of our art history majors, although she did not take my courses. I know my colleagues thought very highly of her. Please accept by sincerest condolences.

Hannah and I studied abroad together in Rome, Italy. We traveled together to Florence, Prague, and so many other places. She was absolutely the sweetest girl I have ever met. She was bubbly, smart, and full of sunshine. She was always there for a conversation that started small and turned deep in the end. We all knew how much she treasured her family. Her ROME 2013 friends love her and miss her greatly.

Hannah and I lived in McGlinn together at Notre Dame and both were in the Class of 2014. Her smile and joy for life were infectious throughout our McGlinn family. I vividly remember spending Carol Christmas with her one year, dressing up in Christmas sweaters, walking to Carol Hall in the freezing cold, and singing with the other McGlinn girls. After graduation, I loved following her family adventures and surprise visits, her hikes in Denver, and her card making business. Hannah is the best example of someone who lived their life to the fullest - with deep love, joy, and excitement for her family and friends.
Her Life

She is Gone

She Is Gone - David Harkins

You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she's gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back

or you can do what she would want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Beautiful Creative Hannah

June 15, 2020
A little over a year ago, my husband had a pretty rough accident at work which kept me away from the office for about a week. This time also fell over my birthday. I made the return to work the following week, reluctantly, but when I approached my cubicle, I couldn't help but be happy to be there. My incredible co-workers, Hannah and Kimlynn, had gone all out to stage my cube as a replicate scene straight out of the Kelly's birthday episode of The Office. It was beautifully ugly. Toilet paper streamers, minimally blown up brown, black and gray balloons. She had even gone all out to add a tiny pillow and fake TV screen on my cabinet, the two options Kelly had on her birthday. 1 hour of TV or 1 hour nap. In addition, I opened my favorite card that I have ever received (attached). This incredibly kind and hilarious soul and her undeniable creative talents, made me the silliest card to go with my now decorated desk. It may sound stupid but this kind and thoughtful act brought tears to my eyes. It was difficult coming in to work when I wanted to be home supporting a recovering man, but I was so grateful to be there and felt so lucky that I had such a wonderful co-worker and friend at my place of employment. There is no doubt in anyone's mind that Hannah was one of the most kind-hearted and loving individual, without even trying. I am so grateful that I have this memory, among many others. I miss you Hannah girl, we all do.
