Family and Friends-

This memorial was created in memory of our beloved Daughter, Sister, and Friend, Hope Cronkhite, 47 years old, born on September 21, 1973, and taken from us entirely too soon on August 16, 2021. We will remember her as long as we live.

We started this principally so the leading lights in Hope's life, Donovan and Griffin, would have something they could look back on when they are older and understand and appreciate more about what a special person their Mom was. As such we're asking you to contribute in one or a combination of a few ways:

  • You can leave a tribute on this page;
  • You can click on the Gallery tab to upload all the photos you want. The more the merrier. You may not have a scanner, so photos of photos are fine.
  • Stories are really where we would love people to contribute. Tell your favorite story of hanging out with Hope, or something crazy that happened with her, or just a song you both liked. Describe something you worked on with her. You can go totally nuts and include pictures, music, and videos, or just a little note.
To be totally clear, tributes are nice, pictures are great, but stories are really where it's at. Please help fill out the portrait of Hope's life by sharing your memories of her there. It doesn't even have to be a multimedia extravaganza.

Hope was a special person that touched many lives and will be greatly missed. It is our great desire that by establishing this site we can encourage visitors to record some of what made her so special such that the boys will be able to see a glimpse of what the person was before she was unfortunately taken by fate before her time, before they were able to fully appreciate it.

Finally, we ask you to give a thought to this site in the months and years after the memorial. As memories come back come to you in those passing day to day moments please set aside a little time to record them here. As much as we want it to be otherwise, it is the best we can do for the boys to give them something of their mother back.

Although it is many months after Hope's passing, I still think about her often. Maybe that is why it has taken so very long to put into words what a very special woman, niece and friend she was to me. I do know that her happy laughter, wonderful conversations and her caring personality will always be missed not only by me but by all those who were privileged to know and love her. Although we lived many miles apart, distance was never a factor. I am thankful that my son, Rob, Kelly, Katie, Robby and Michael got to know her and the boys during their visits to California from Michigan. May the joy and love she brought not only to her friends but especially to her family --- her dad, her two wonderful boys, her brothers and their families and Dave --be remembered by all. I know that she is flying with God's angels for always. Love, Aunt Claire

I had just moved to a brand new state when I met Hope. Her son, Donovan was a student in our class at Aspirations. Hope was always a pleasant, funny part of our day. She spoke to me many times about how lucky she felt to have her boys, and how she was excited to see who they would grow to be. I’m happy to have been a part of a chapter in her life. She will be missed.

I could always count on Hope to make me laugh. I had the wonderful honor of teaching both her boys at Aspirations. She loved participating in classroom events where she could spend more time with her boys. She was always happy to help when us teachers needed assistance, and contributed to so many of our annual events. After all these years, I can still picture Hope laughing hysterically over some silly conversation we landed on out on the playground at pick up time. Sending huge hugs to Griffin and Donovan and much love to her family. Love, Natasha

Audrey and I remember fondly our daughter Becky playing with Buffy in our swimming pool at about age 7. I don't think the Wilsons had a pool at that time.  It was heartwarming to see Faith and Audrey sitting on the edge of the pool while the girls swam and squealed and had a great time.

Buffy was the best friend a person could want. She was fun and kind, and had so much love to give. We met in high school, sealed our BFF status in college, and remained besties til the day she died. I miss her every day and will forever hold her in my heart. ❤️❤️❤️

Hope was our upstairs neighbor when we lived in Carlsbad back in 2010…. I cannot express how much she meant to Charlie and I. She was the mom that could do it all, I admired her so much. I lost my mother when I was very young and she was there for me when I had my first baby (Ashton) to show me the ropes. She helped me with nursing and bottles and the 5s’s and treated me like a close relative. She was there for anything I needed. We were extremely close and stayed in contact all these years. We will always love Hope and her whole family and are absolutely heart broken by this loss. We have another angel in heaven looking after us but she will be greatly missed. We love you and your family Hope. Forever and always ❤️❤️

Depeche Mode!... and Virgos

July 25, 2022
We saw our last Depeche Mode concert together on October 14, 2017.  Unfortunately, we were a tad late because she and my husband held an intervention on me and tossed food from our refrigerator that was past the "best by" date.  This should not have been surprising as they have the same birthday- it was their Virgo dream come true.
Once we finally made it to the Hollywood Bowl, the concert was simply wonderful.  In her words, it was "friggin awesome".  I cared most that we had that time together.  Afterward we ate a late dinner at a Thai restaurant she loved from when she lived in LA.  What a day!  I loved taking that ride with my best friend.

(Video uploaded to the Gallery, but reminder that we are NOT paid for our singing voices.)

Kindergarten Soccer Party

March 9, 2022
Hope and I were new moms to St.Pat's and our boys, Dominik and Donovan, had started there as buddies from preschool.  For the school auction, the Kinder parents needed to host a party. So of course, Hope volunteered to plan a party, and convinced me to help. We planned with 2 other moms, Shauna and Erin (moms of Jake and Connor). The planning was so much fun, especially since she LOVED to plan and was a party pro, and we had time to get to know new moms! She planned a soccer party at the beach for a bunch of 5 year olds and it was a hit!!! She did so much for her boys and loved to be a part of their activities! Her loving personality will always be missed!

Good times with Hope.

Hope! Where do I start?! I will forever remember you with the biggest smile on your face and the biggest laugh.

I’ll never forget the nights we sat up talking all evening, over a couple of angry orchard ciders, you showing me all your scrapbooks or talking about your mom, or just talking about nothing for hours! I remember the drives up to Fullerton to Steves place, blasting Macklemore “Downtown” over and over again and me, you, Donovan and Griffin singing so loud to every word. I remember you egging on the boys to do bigger, crazier dives off the diving board when we got there- I can still hear you cheering on your boys now and you will be cheering them on forever. Your love for Donovan and Griffin was and still is truly unconditional. You used to text me multiple times a day with pictures of them usually with a caption something like “Look at G- can you even deal right now?!?” or “Look at D what a stud.” You were always on the sideline cheering them on and to say that you were obsessed with watching them play sports is an understatement! You loved them so much and that love can never be forgotten.

There were many times when we were each others dates to events. Aspirations and St Patrick’s Galas to name a few- we even took a bunch of balloons home one year and had them in the living room for a week! Many lovely evenings spent at Solana beach, watching the dolphins and sharing good food. I probably will never ever have a longer phone call than we did. We topped 2+ hours more than once.

I just want to say thank you for everything. You were so generous and loving and I will never forget how you all took me in, and took the whole Challenger Sports family in as part of your own family from the get go- we even convinced you to work in the office for a summer haha! You will be forever missed and I’m sure we will all see you again in heaven, probably still rocking your ripped jeans, vans, sweatshirt and your gold jewels, probably blasting some Tu-Pac and definitely still smiling so big. Cheers to you Hope.
