CONDOLENCE MESSAGE TO EZIADA ( LOLO) UJU BERNA NWAOGU

My dear Uju, what can I say: Death we know is a necessary end that awaits everybody. Your heart-throb has answered his call. That puts an end to an era. Your Tall, Handsome, Jovial, Amiable and Hardworking love of your life who loved you unconditionally too before the devil tried his hands. I can’t help but remember him as the Fide of the Umudi days, your young vibrant Odobro!
Be consoled Eziada nwannem by the fact that, God’s ways are not our ways and in all, Fide made his mark. His life was definitely not in vain. He succeeded in everything he tried his hands on. Public Service, Politics etc. In a nutshell: Fide came, saw and conquered. He will surely be missed!
May God grant him rest and grant you and his children divine fortitude to bear his exit.

Dee Fide, I'm still in shock and disbelief over your sudden passing! Didn't realise that when you attended my Dad's burial in 2019 would be the last time we will see. Anyway, who are we to question God. Your good nature will always precede you, you will never be forgotten by my family.
Nwokeoma! Enyioha! Uncle Dee Fide, I'm shedding tears writing this but God knows why. Go with the choirs of Angel to your creator and may your soul rest in perfect peace AMEN. You will be immensely missed.

Ichie, Nwoke Oma, you came, you saw, you conquered. Got to know you through my relationship with your wife Uju. I visited your home at Federal Housing, Umuguma several times. You were a fun to be with, always smiling and never had any dull moments with you around. Your home was an enviable one. You fondly called me Tonia. The last time I saw you we exchanged pleasantries and in your usual character it was fun. Your departure at this time has created a big vacuum in your family, village Umuoma, Imo state and Nigeria in general. I pray God grants your family and all touched by your death the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May the good Lord grant you eternal rest. I chie, ga Ijegi nkeoma.

I am still in a state of disbelief over the news of the sudden death of my bosom friend, Ichie Fide Chucks Nwaogu, fondly known and called Odobro by his close acquaintances. I say this because Fide and I were in regular contact by telephone, and there was nothing to suggest that he was battling with any health challenge, so naturally, it was difficult for me to believe at first, that he had passed on just like that. As Christians, we are people of faith and the resurrection, so we accept that it was part of God's divine plan that the earthly life of this great son of Umuowa÷Orlu should come to an end at this time.. Fide lived a very exciting and accomplished life ,during which he joined the civil service of the old Imo State as an Information Officer, and through dint of hardwork and perseverance, rose through the ranks and became a Permanent Secretary. ichie Fide Nwaogu touched many lives during his lifetime. He was essentially a grassroots man, who had no issues relating with people from different strata of the society, whether high or low  rich or poor. Ichie Fide will be sorely missed by his family and friends. May his great soul rest in the peace of the Lord. Our prayerful best wishes to his immediate family and the larger Nwaogu family of Umuowa, that God will comfort and console them in their time of grief. Adieu my good friend, adieu  Odobro Odobro. Good bye and God be with you till we meet again...

Ogechi my sister, you are not the only person missing De Fide as he was rightly called. You can't discuss Orlu Zurumee without my dad. Ezinna D M C Ohanyiri and your dad. Two of them were so close that he will be asking me how about Dede being his senior brother, that's what he calls my dad. He makes sure that he attends to you and solves your problem when he was the principal secretary to the Governor. I pray that God will give you and the entire family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. And may his soul continue to rest in the bossom of the Lord.

Dear Daddy, reality beckons! I was not prepared for this. It still feels like a bad dream I would wake up from. I have found it extremely hard to write about you in the past tense. I am still struggling to come to terms with this painful reality.
I just want you to say thank you for being my Dad. Thank you for teaching and showing me so many great things. You taught me to be bold and strong! Your sense of humanity, empathy and charity were unrivalled! You were extremely patriotic; you swore by UMUOWA. From the ökönkö festival celebrations to the ukwa meals to speaking our core dialect...so many memories flood my mind. I will keep writing as I compose myself intermittently...
May God have mercy on your soul and grant you peaceful repose.
I will forever cherish your memory.

I have been privileged to know Oge since we were both 10yrs old. Oge & Chizaram are exceptional ladies. Their type is rare; and it take exceptional parents to birth and nurture exceptional children who are trailblazers in their various fields of endeavours (and life in general). Thank you sir for being the exceptional man you were. Sleep on sir. Odogwu ka ibu.

I know your daughter, Oge. She is a great woman. You did great with her.

I just read a bit more about you and realised that you must have been exceptional because you taught her humility.

Coming from someone that gave so much of himself, I can see why she turned out this way.

Thank God for the life that you lived. May you rest in the bossom of our God.

STRIDES OF A COLOSSUS
De Odobro,
It's hard to believe that you are gone.
Many see you and know you from a far, but I was privileged to live under your immeasurable kindness for a year.
It was in 1988. I was heading to the law school. Worried sick about accommodation, my brother His Royal Highness called you and informed you about my plight. You did not give a second thought to it. I was living in your house, fed by you and given a ride from Maryland your house to the law school in V. I daily.
Then something that engraved in my mind your personality happened.
We were eating one night when a knock was heard on the door. I answered only to find a school colleague of mine with his bags at the door. He was stranded and found his way to the place were I was accommodated. I was shocked. No prior information, no warning. I was stuck at the door with him. Dee Odobro came to the door and saw both of us. He saw me sweating like a Christmas goat and my friend looking forlon. Without hesitation, this extremely kinded man invited him in. Not a word of rebuke, not a frown.
His brother in law Ichie Chidi Nwuke who was cohabiting with him at the time came home to find a stranger in the house. We stayed together for months before my friend relocated.
That incident defined him in my mind. From that moment I saw a man bent on making his contribution toward the betterment of the society.
Endless tales of similar incidents abound. Countess people he gave jobs. People that wept on his shoulders and lives he uplifted.
He was a man, and like flesh and blood he made his mistakes, but truth be told, Dee Odobro was head and shoulders higher than his contemporaries. Umuowa will miss you and your endless desire to position her in properly in the political spectrum.
My prayer for the family left behind, is for the grace of God to uphold you all. The good seeds he has down will surely be reaped by you and your upcoming generations.
Be consoled, God will see you through
Pst Onyema Duruigbo
