James Michael Phillips, Sr., 67, a resident of Durham County, passed away at his residence Wednesday, June 13, 2012.

A native of Granville County, the son of the late Sam and Estelle Virginia Weary Phillips, retired from Bandag Inc. in Oxford after 40 years of service, attended Christ Centered Community Church in Durham.

Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 16, 2012 in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford by Pastor Clarence Parrish.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Surviving his spouse; Kay Altman of the home, a daughter; Delinda Garrett (Wayne) of Oxford, a son; James Phillips, Jr. (Sheila) of Creedmoor, two step sons; Billy Terrell of Mebane, Craig Terrell of the home, three sisters; Dorothy Overby of Oxford, Alice Inscoe of Stovall, Mary Martin of Virginia, a brother; Sam Phillips, Jr. of Henderson, 3 granddaughters and 2 great granddaughters.  He was preceded in death by his wife; Ruth V. Phillips, 2 brothers; Harold Phillips, Walter Lee Phillips and a step daughter; Donna Terrell.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 8:30 PM Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and other times at the home.
