June 24, 1935 to August 24, 2016

Jerry Calhoon, 81, of Gig Harbor, Wash., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, due to complications from

settling the family in West Linn, Ore. for 35 years.

He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather and devoted his life to his family.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate his life on Friday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, 8818

SW Miley Road, Wilsonville, Ore. A reception will follow the service at Langdon Farm Golf Club.

the Calhoon family. A memorial web page has been set up for guests to share photos, memories and tributes at

While visiting Tricia, I had the honor of meeting Jerry over Easter weekend while he kept the nurses busy for the holiday. I came in from Cincy and Tricia insisted we visit him. It made my heart full to see how much she adored him! He's in good company... ❤️

Jerry and Jane were so kind to us. We moved to Oregon with no family within 1200 miles and they invited us into their home and made us feel like we were a part of things. Their generosity, kindness, faith and love of their family provided a great model of what a life well lived could be. May Jerry's spirit join Jane's and their flame light the way for others for eternity.

Jerry was the kindest man; the gentlest soul. He had more patience than anyone I know. He lived for his family. He set a wonderful example for his boys on how to be a man, a husband and a father. I am so grateful to be part of his life.

My last sibling Brother, Jerry, is now with his wife and other passed family. His undying love, devotion, support & encouraging spirit for his family and others was amazing his entire life. I, our other siblings, along with his immediate family deeply admire Jerry for his selfless loyalty and abounding love. They broke the mold when God made my Brother. He will be missed but never ever forgotten.

Mom (Alice Calhoon) said her earliest memory of Jerry was at 5 YO. Dad (his Uncle Ross) was working on his car & Jerry started picking up his tools. When told to leave them alone, he said, "that's no way to talk to a man of letters!"

Wallpaper

I will never forget when Sean and I owned our first house.  Jane and Jerry agreed to help us hang wallpaper in the kitchen.  Jerry was a pro!  They came over on a Saturday and the project began.  As the day moved into evening, Jerry was still pasting this plaid design.  By midnight, we were all ready for bed, but not Jerry.  He was determined to hang it perfectly.  When it was done, you could not tell where one piece started and another stopped.  He was meticulous.
