 Jessica Delores Selba died peacefully on August 1, 2021 at her home in Federalsburg, Maryland, at the age of 43.

    Jessica is preceded in death by her mother, Roberta Louise Furman Oles, her paternal grandparents John and Vera Fraer, her maternal grandparents George S. Furman, Sr. and Evelyn Furman, and her godfather George S. Furman, Jr. Jessica is survived by her loving and devoted sons, Jarrett Alexander Selba, James Francis Knapp Jr., Joshua Lee Knapp, and Justin Louis Selba, her parents, Michael and Jackie Selba of Selbyville, Delaware; her brothers and sisters: Michael Francis Selba, Jr. , Joseph Michael Selba and Lindsey, Patrick James Selba and Mindy, Jackie Lee Johnson and Jeremy, Kathleen Erin Malik and Ali, Thomas John Selba and Courtney, Jacob Paul Selba, William David Selba and Molly, Matthew Brian Selba, and Emily Marie Selba. Jessica is survived by her aunts and uncles Ronnie and John McMahon, Margaret and Gregory Craig, John Fraer, John and Patricia Furman, Clara and Greg Tomas, Evelyn and Karl Anderson and her 12 nephews and nieces: Joseph, Luke, Ada, and John Selba, Patrick and Rylie Selba, Charlotte and Emma Johnson, Mohsin and Maliha Malik, Scarlett and Colton Selba.  Jessica is also survived by her mother-in-law Ruth Knapp.

    Jessica was born on January 24, 1978 in Baltimore to Michael and Roberta Selba. She graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1996.  Jessica attended Notre Dame of Maryland University and earned her Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a focus in early childhood.  After moving to Federalsburg, Maryland she began working for Dorchester County Public Schools as a school teacher teaching multiple grades and disciplines before becoming the director of headstart for Caroline County.

    Jessica’s children remember her as a loving mother who encouraged them to follow their dreams and make their own path in the world. She taught them that God will always provide as long as they have faith and do a bit of service for others.

     Jessica was an accomplished educator and was always finding ways to teach those around her.  She was a dedicated individual who loved God more than anything and was passionate about helping every person who met her.  She was an active and esteemed member of the Our Lady of Lourdes parish and volunteered as a Catechist in the Religious Education program for many years.

    A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday August 21, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Seaford, Delaware with a reception to follow at the Selba family home in Selbyville, DE.  Father Giuliano will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jessica’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Stein Highway, Seaford, DE.  The family would like to thank her loving sons— Jarrett, James, Joshua and Justin— for their loving and devoted care and dedication to their mother.
