Brother Jimmie McGhee was born to the late Rufus and Gertrude McGhee of Warm Springs, Georgia on November 29, 1941. He was the fourth of six children. At a young age he moved to Tampa, Florida.
Soon he was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army for two years. He later became the first black Postman in Manchester, Georgia.
He retired in Reading, Pennsylvania and moved back to Warm Springs and recommitted his life to God at the Leverette Hill Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife Tracy; three children: Sheila (Marvin) Artemus, Tampa, FL; Yolanda (Kenneth) Singleton, Manchester, GA; Devens (Roseena) Ellison, Manchester, GA; two step daughters: Concheeta Ford and Cassandra Ellison of Warm Springs, GA; two sisters: Lena Jerry, Tampa, FL; Betty Terry, Shiloh, GA; three brothers: Rufus (Rhudine) McGhee, Jr., Tampa, FL; Thomas (Lillie) McGhee, Decatur, GA; Charlie (Cheri) McGhee, Albany, GA; father & mother-in-law Clarence (Frances) Ellison; one brother-in-law: Corey Ellison; one sister-in-law: Keshia Ellison; and a host of grand and great grand children, nieces, nephews and friends.
