Obituary

July 23, 2012

Joanna Price was born in Harlem, NY on July 4, 1932 to the late Thomas and Alberta Curtis - Price. Being the only girl of 3 children Joanna quickly learned to speak up and defend herself and her feisty yet loving spirit is how many of us will remember her.

Her love for music and a good time is how she met her husband Anglis "Ray" Brown (deceased) and through this union two children were born, Lolethia Price and Ray "Grump" Brown. However her grandchildren will contest that giving birth to two children didn't stop her from mothering a village.

Joanna's big heart and giving didn't just stop with her family and friends; it was with the New York City Board of Education as a Paraprofessional for young mothers that Joanna dedicated 29 years of committed service. Her tell it like it is and mothering yet friendly tone helped many teenage parents continue their education.

At the age of 76 after becoming an amputee Joanna retired and relocated to Atlanta, GA to be with her son and daughter. Resting in her Atlanta home with her children nearby is where she found peace and our heavenly father called her home from suffering.

Joanna leaves to mourn her daughter: Lolethia Price, Son and his wife: Raymond Sr. and Bernethea Brown “Grump and NeNe", 4 Granddaughters: Kathy, Erica, Nicole and M'Lisha, 3 Grandsons: Rayshon, Kareem, and Raymond Jr.  "RJ", 2 Great Granddaughters: Bra'dyn and Chrisanay, 1 Great Grandson: Toriq 3 Stepsons: Anglis "Ray Jr", Manual "Man", Edward "Rip”, Special Extended Family Members: Bernice, Charome, Tima, and Junior Fortune and the Rutledge Family, as well as a Host of family, extended family and friends.
