ForeverMissed

Johnnye Mae Burton was born on April 18, 1922, in Cusseta, Alabama to the late Johnnie and Sallye Summers. Johnnye was raised in West Point, GA but later made her home in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She retired from Edison Estates in Edison, New Jersey, where she worked as a laundry room attendant.

Johnnye Mae was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, New Jersey. She served as an active member of the Pulpit Auxiliary and secretary for the Pastor’s Aid Committee. More importantly, she served the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was preceded in death by her beloved friend, McKinnley Ransom, her loving sisters, Alma and Eva, her devoted son, Donald Burton (Alice) of Cleveland, Ohio and her darling great-granddaughter, Jasmine Jenkins.

Her interests included spending time with her family, quilting, word search puzzles, and traveling with her best friend Maggie Martin and The Senior’s Fellowship Ministry.

Johnnye Mae Burton leaves to cherish her loving memory: her sister, Louise Summers of West Point, Georgia; her daughters, Constance Howard of New Brunswick, New Jersey; Jennifer Burton of Smyrna, Georgia; and Cherie Ruffin (James) of Marietta, Georgia.
10 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren and 8 great, great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family may be contact at the residence of Ms. Louise Summers, 1105 E. 9th St., West Point, GA.

Again, I extend my prayers and condolences during this season of transition. As my interactions with Ms. Burton were limited, I do recall the one game night where we played Taboo and she definitely provided lots of laughs and joy on that evening. Continue to remember the vivacious woman that she was and know that she is resting in the sweet arms of our Lord. Love, Jillian L. Smith and Family
