It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Jon Robert
Cormany. Jon passed peacefully in his residence in Englewood,
Florida on November 16, 2016. Born in Akron, Ohio in 1952, he was
raised in Coventry Township, Ohio where he graduated high school in
1971. Playing music was his calling and to find it he traveled the
country by any available means! A musician in search of a scene,
he landed for a number of years in Boulder, Colorado where he drove
a taxi cab to support his music habit. It was there he would help
to form the punk rock band, “The Nails” (1977) as its bass
guitarist. Not one to stay in one place for too long, Jon found a
new home in New York. He continued to play rock music and went on
to form another band, “The Corvairs.” Jon also drove a taxi cab in
New York, and although he was awarded no medals for his bravery, he
amassed a collection of anecdotes that would entertain friends and
family for several decades! He loved living in the city and was to
remain there for 17 years. He returned to live in Akron briefly
before settling in Englewood where he has lived for the last 16 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Florence Cormany
and brother-in-law Kenneth Callow. He is survived by his sister
Barbara Callow and her son Stephen Blazewick II and his wife
Emanuella. A memorial service for family and friends will be
scheduled in Florida in December. May his soul be at rest.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the St. David’s Englewood Jubilee Center - a charity he regularly supported
