I can’t believe it’s been a year. Thanks to Candus and Selena for doing this. They’re the best.
Joy made everyone that visited her feel better and she inspired all of us.
There are two Elvis songs that made me think of her -“Just Pretend” and “I’ll Remember You” - and one Anne Murray song she called “our song” – first dance at our wedding – “Could I Have This Dance”. They are special to me. Selena is going to add those a little bit later.

Have so many Memories but there is 1 saying that will never leave my mind and when Joy 1st said it to me many years ago, I fell over laughing in the chair. We were talking jibber jabber talk and she blurts out " Well! Fuck Me And Call me Dusty" lol. She said it quite often and 1 day I asked her who " Dusty" was? And she says " Who the fuck knows". lmao. I remember camping at miracle beach and aunty Joy told Lori and I that if we wanted her to braid our hair she was going to have to wash it in the FREEZING cold water that was on tap by where we would go get the wood. Your 10th year brought us toward the end of pandemic. You missed pandemics in your lifetime. Still a lot of uncertainty, but most people helped protect themselves and others. Most importantly ..listened to advice (like you used to give freely)! Still miss you; but not so much the noisy "Christmas to your birthday clock". For another year anyway

I am Kathleen, also known as Kathy. I was scouring Facebook today and decided to search for Joy. I am shocked to read she has passed at such a young age, how tragic.
Your Mom use to style my hair and my sister's when we resided on Vcr. Island. I moved from Nanaimo 10 years ago now.
You may remember me and Hans, Hans built the windmill for your Mom. I love the photo of your Mom and daughter standing near the windmill; all of the photos are touching and bring back fond memories of your Mom and family. ..
Joy would make me laugh from my belly, she was blunt, honest , jovial , loving and would give you a piece of her mind when need be. Joy, I miss you everyday!!! You were the flame and all your friends were the moths that were drawn to you. You took me under your wing and made me feel like I was a part of your family. You were the sister that I never had. We could talk about everything and anything, so many laughs and tears were shared.
