You were part of my work family. You were such a bundle of positive energy! It was infectious. I never got to tell you this when you were here in the physical world. Thank you for your service and sacrifice you gave for me & so many more.  You are one of the many reasons I'm able to work for a great company, pray to my God & speak my opinion. I respected how you spoke direct & precise. No fluff. You were always an open and approachable individual. All I know is the lord must needed you more up in the heavens than down here. You are sorely missed here. You made a difference and left your imprint here. God bless.

While no one can fully know another, spending just a little time with Justin at our 70th family reunion was a great pleasure. It was immediately clear what an amazing and inspiring young man and human being he had become. His service to our country and attention to family will always be remembered. Peace to him and to all those he touched.

I met Justin through his dog Tally. We quickly became friends. It's hard to know where to begin. Caring, humble, enthusiastic, talented...such an amazing person. Justin lived near my elderly (93 yo) mother and I thousands of miles away. He regularly dropped by to visit her, always eager to give a hand where needed.
Justin never spoke about his accomplishments which were extensive to say the least. A Navy Seal, highly educated, well traveled, instead we talked about woodworking and adventure.
Justin radiated enthusiasm and a zest for life.

Justin is dearly missed by me and all of my family.

Last July we had our 70th family reunion in Pennsylvania. Justin traveled all the way from California to attend. Family was important to him. We are so grateful that we had this opportunity to spend time with him because it was a long time since we had seen him. So handsome, humble and such a gentleman. We are saddened by his passing. Rest in peace Justin.

Such a devastating loss. I am so sad that Justin suffered this trauma and will not share your lives now, except for in your sweet memories of him.

His Life

Justin S. Plank

January 30
Justin Stockwell Plank, age 35, passed away on January 12, 2024 after a traumatic brain injury from a bicycle accident on January 3. Born on February 5, 1988, Justin was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed surfing, hiking and biking, oftentimes with a four-legged companion by his side. He found joy in every experience, and brought joy to others through acts of service, generosity and kindness.

Justin was born and raised in Central Florida, graduating from Lake Howell High School in 2006, followed by the University of Florida in December of 2010, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. With an ambitious plan formed at a young age, he joined the Navy upon his college graduation and moved to San Diego in 2011. After years of intense training, Justin Plank earned the rank of Lieutenant as a Navy Seal, joining Seal Team 7.

After leaving the Navy, Justin earned a Master of Business for Veterans degree from the University of Southern California in May of 2017, while also learning carpentry in his free time, building furniture and decor. At the time of his passing he worked as a Project Manager at Pacific Rim Mechanical in San Diego, where he found a new brotherhood with his coworkers, excelling in a role overseeing large-scale commercial building construction.

Justin embodied a spirit of adventure, one that took him to exotic places, with dreams of travel to even more destinations beyond the horizon. His legacy will live on through the many family and friends who mourn his loss. Justin is survived by his mother Tricia (McMurray) Plank, father Montje Plank, and stepmother Debra Cunningham, all in Florida, grandfather Anthony Ragucci in Texas, sisters Amber Babcock (Alex) and Danielle Vivian (Joe) in Florida, brother Seth Plank (Nicole) in North Carolina and four nephews in Florida, and many aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the country.
