We played cricket together at Rainhill High; even went on a day out to watch Lancashire at Old Trafford once with the chemistry teacher and cricket master John Potter. During the match, he got talking to some Mancunians sitting behind us who were from a local boxing club. They said their guy could beat him. He turned back to us and said, "They don't know what they're talking about". Next time I saw him, he was on the tele fighting (probably Montero). Keith showed real class that night.
Last time I spoke to him was in the Bath Springs when he was up from London. He told me he was training hard and going down to Wimbledon Common to run every day. As I was living in Brixton then, we agreed to meet up. I wish I had got in touch.
Keith was a great lad all round.
