My sincere condolences to the entire Rutty family at this time of their bereavement. Only in the mercy of God can we find comfort for our pain and peace for our troubled hearts. But in all losses, we can turn to God for He alone can heal our brokenness and grief. Uncle Cleavey will be greatly missed. May his soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine on him

Uncle Clevey 1st on left at Robert's wedding, RIU, Montego Bay, Jamaica.

October 21, 2013

I really do not know where to start.  Here we go;  My favourite uncle without a doubt.  I can't believe he is gone, I just saw him in August.  I am glad I went home, it wasn't in my plans to visit Jamaica this year but, as it may I will be there twice.
When I heard that uncle Clevey was sick I knew I had to go see him.  I am glad I did, we talked and he told me some things, one was that I would not see him again.  I told him that he was going to be here for a long time.  but, the most high had other plans for my favourite uncle.
Uncle clevey migrated to London, England in the 50s, so growing up I only heard his name, saw pictures.  I clearly remembered each month, my grandmother (Clina Rutty) would get a letter from Uncle Clevey religiously, and I had to go to her house and read the letter to her.  So, I got to know the person he was; he was kind, thoughtful, easy going, serious, joyful, caring, familyman, concern for others, among other adjectives.
I remembered him coming to Jamaica, I was about 12 years old.  Thats the first time I saw him and I said to myself, he is a giant.  He was tall, very handsome, always with a serious look on his face as if he was always thinking about something.  Then our eyes meet and he had the most welcoming smile on his face.  He didnt say much, very quiet man.  Over the years he would come out on vacations, to visit his mom and dad.  I was always eager to see him.
Uncle Clevey retired, came to Jamaica to lived.  Now, I was grown and was very happy to be a little taller than him, as if it was my goal.  I just wanted to measure up up him, be his height, be the man he was, the father he was, the person he was......I miss you man, I miss you.....

Grace- uncle clevey was warm and kind, was always concerned about the children, and was always offering someone a drink :-).... whenever perssons came to his shop he would always offer them something to eat, whenever I got down he would always look at me and say "you look good man, look like you ready to marry again",Hey was always jovial, making others laugh. He will be greatly missed. Dear old uncle clevey..... Jillian- I grew up with uncle clevey So I got to know him over the years. What I remrmber about him is that persons loved to be around him because Hey was kind hearted and fun,he was always smiling and making jokes. He was always moving,as the clock strike 5 he would be out of the house carrying out his goats, and he would not come back until the shop was locked,he was not a lazy man. I am grateful for all he did for me,he made my time on trelawny a much better one,and I will miss him very much. Rest of family-we loved uncle clevey,Hey was very kind. Country will Not be the same without him. We will miss him.
