Dear wonderful Kenya. Thank you for your warmth, your beautiful smile, your laugh, your humor and your hugs. Thank you for your brilliant brain, your expertise as a librarian, your humanity. You taught us all so much in so many ways. Rest well, dear friend.

I miss you Kenya. You were such a bright light. I am shocked and saddened by hearing that you are now gone. Rest easy my friend, until we meet again.

From a historian at King’s College, in Wilkes-Barre, where Kenya worked for several years:

I am stunned and saddened to hear of her death. Kenya was wonderful, both personally and professionally. She surely warmed the Corgan Library with her unforgettable smile and laugh, making students and faculty alike feel at home. And she was so good at her job. We missed her when she went on in her career, but it was good to think of her doing what she did for us for others, something I had assumed she would always be doing.

To all her family and friends, I send my heartfelt condolences.

Kenya was a kind soul. I knew her as a young to mid teenager in Buffalo. She went to Victory Church and I went to their sister church Emmanuel. The Flash family was very active in church and I remember how determined yet quiet Kenya was- at least when I was around. When I returned to Buffalo to pastor the joint church 3 years ago, I asked about the Flash family and Kenya. Certain members and former members said that you all were doing well the last time they’d heard. God bless the family as you process this great loss during this time. Please know that I and the Emmanuel Temple/Victory Temple church family are praying for you.

What a blessing Kenya Flash was to my life, both personally and professionally, and to her friends, coworkers, and family. I met Kenya on the very first day of our Lafayette College experience, and we have been inseparable ever since. We laughed, cried, prayed, and strategized through the twists and turns of life. I’ll miss her wit, insatiable love of learning, and incredible intellectualism. Most of all, I’ll miss Kenya’s unwavering belief that we could achieve our biggest and wildest dreams. Kenya, you made an indelible imprint on my life. I am profoundly sad to continue on this journey without your physical presence. I know God has welcomed you into the eternal kingdom. Until we meet again…

Kenya was, without a doubt, one of the brightest souls I've ever met. She illuminated the room simply by being in it. I remeber her and I pretty much laughing all the way from Wilkes Barre to Knoxville when I helped her move. I'll remember her giving the best hugs, and the best advice. There was no one else like her, and there never will be. The world was a better, more loving place with her in it. Now it feels a little colder.

Kenya was one of, if not the best thing, in my life. She pushed me to be a better version of myself than I thought possible. I will need to work hard going forward to become the person that she thought that I already was. Each day I will try to make her proud of me. I will miss talking to her and seeing her smile and laugh. I can only hope that she is able to witness all the positive things that her inspirations in myself and many others have caused. I miss you, Love.
