Gone too soon, Adekunle Fagbenle.... I'll miss you. Though we haven't seen in close to 30 years I see you maintained your cherubic charm. Go on charming the angels out of their shining garments as you join the saints triumphant.
Didn't know we weren't that much older than you, you accorded Joyin and all her friends, me inclusive, so much respect.
I pray the Lord consoles all family and friends you left behind...
Good night Adekunle

Hmmmm! Simply no word. Very painful exit. I haven’t seen Adekunle or the Fagbenles’ for over 30years but our families have always kept in touch. I remember Kunle very well as a very pleasant and astute young man, I didn’t know at the time that I wasn’t that much older, he accorded the same respect to all, old or young. That smile, that very famous smile. I had just learnt of his birthday on May 17 and had googled him and had read & listened to countless interviews of him and all of his achievements and accolades and was basking in that euphoria of knowing he had become this famous and dynamic young man and then BOOM! another phone call came of his demise and for a minute I thought it was a sick joke or a misspeak, a really sick joke. But heaven and the Angels came calling early, it is said that the good ones don’t last long. Do we question GOD? Hmmm!!!
I am so sorry for this loss but.....Words can’t even describe.
Dear kunle, I wish we could have met again as adults and as parents so we would share stories, so many to share. May your family be comforted. May your soul rest in the bosom of our lord.
Adieu dear friend and brother, may your gentle soul Rest In Peace, Amen. Still SMH.

It is very hard to come to terms with the sad news that you are no longer here with us Bro Kunle.
Even though you're gone, you touched so many peoples hearts in so many ways with your love, warmth and kindness.
You were caring and always interested in my goals and ambitions.
Always encouraging progress and growth, always willing to share your knowledge and experience for the rest of us to learn from.
Your legacy will forever live on through family and friends.
Heaven just gained an Angel and I'm sure you'll always be watching over us.
We miss you Big K and you will never be forgotten.
Rest in Peace bro, Love you..

Bro. Kunle, your untimely departure will definitely be felt by everyone that you came in contact with during the short but eventful life you lived. What you left are memories of inestimable value full of Love, Joy and Happiness.
My surprise birthday visit to you on the 17th of May 2018 will forever linger in my memory, you were so happy to see me, you were full of life and as usual full of smiles, you shared a lot of your memorable moments with me, you dug deep into your archive to bring pictures and brochure of African Telecommunication Network, (ATN), a Telecoms company you and other partners established in some countries in Africa in the early 90s. A giant feat at a young age of 24/25 by my estimation.
You also discussed your next height to conquer with me, you told me you will be running for an elective post in the next general elections and that you just got back from your constituency, you asked me what my plans are, we discussed, we laughed and laughed. You brought back beautiful old memories. It was as if we both didn't want the night to end as we walked outside to see me off.
All throughout my brief visit on the 17th of May 2018, you showed no sign that it would be the last time I'll see you. Bro Kunle, you lived an exemplary life, you touched everyone around you one way or the other. You were fun to be with always. You will be forever missed.

Brother Kunle...
When you were my Boss, you were a fair boss
Next you were my Coach, you were a very sincere coach
When you became my Brother, you were my favourite big brother
When we played games, you were a worthy opponent
When we told stories, yours were most hilarious
Since you have joined the stars above, you have become eternal...

My big brother Kunle, forever missed. How can I eulogise you? Words are not enough to describe your generosity, your empathy, your blessedness. You were a gentle giant, and your smile, your words of wisdom, your welcoming spirit is one that will be missed. It's really sad that you're gone. It hurts. So so much.
Thank you for all you were, for your words of wisdom when I hit the big 40. For calling me all the way from Lagos to give me your best wishes. That's who you are, the big brother to all of us. Thank you for how you welcomed Yemi when she first came to London, for employing her to give her a 'leg up' and experience of work in the UK. For being her mentor and friend, for looking after her all those early days of her settling down in a new country.
Thank you Bro Kunle. You may be gone from this earth, but you remain forever precious in our hearts, forever remembered, never forgotten. Adieu egbon mi, love you forever!

EULOGY TO COUSIN ADEKUNLE ABAYOMI OLALEKAN ALADE FAGBENLE

I was confused and sad at the same time; and was still trying to make sense of the news; in that confused state, starting from my broken heart, my emotions somehow meshed and the cauldron found an outlet through the eyes as I bled buckets of tears, ALAS! Our first grandson of the Adebola Ekisola family of No. 8, Franklin Road, Apapa Road, Lagos is gone.
Can I ever forget my relationship with Bros K which I’ve had a very cordial and mutual family friendship with? This was someone whom I grew up wt at Akoka in some of our school days in the early 80s, i remember a particular childish play we all had at home one fateful afternoon after d school hours, i was afraid you could have a broken leg but he escaped it..
I recall the last day we were together at the Marcopolo Chinese Restaurant Lekki when you had a surprised birthday bash for your dear Mom, my Aunty when you came around to where i was seated and we talked in our usual way with your ever soft and pleasant voice, i later wondered if you were actually bidding me a goodbye. No farewells were made, no time to say goodbye, you were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why but those last moments will forever linger in my mind.
A golden heart stopped beating, handwork hands at rest , God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best… BROS K. YOU ARE ONE OF THE VERY BEST WE HAVE.
As painful as your death is to the entire family, friends and admirers, we shall live to remember you as a kind, peaceful and loving person; thus, the caliber of good people with whom you associated with made it evident for your death to go viral on most social media
So what do i say about a man who was an unfailing Son, Nephew, Cousin, Father, Spouse, Friend and a reservoir of knowledge? He was all that and much more----A man who loved life
PLEASE don’t think of him as gone away for his journey has just begun, just think of him as resting from the sorrows & tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away and think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched---for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.
May the Lord console his parents at this time, Liz his spouse & his very young kids, Justin Ayomide & Oluwatamilore, the Almighty God will give the entire family at large, friends and well-wishers the fortitude to bears this earthly exit buh Heaven's gain in Jesus name amen.

This doesn’t even begin to make any sense. And honestly I felt like if I delayed this long enough I would be told that it was just some sick joke and I wasn’t going to write a tribute in memory of my vibrant 49year old go getter cousin Kunle Fagbenle. Honestly there are some people in your life that you are not exactly sure when they implanted themselves in your life (he did as he was 6 years older) but I have always been aware of him. Birthday parties, family events (his Mum is my mum’s immediate older sister, the S’Agba to my mum’s S’Kekere) but my more concrete memories were from when he was leaving St Finbarrs and wanted to study law at The Obafemi Awolowo University but gained admission for History instead at The University of Lagos, He was disappointed quite alright said some Uncles laughed at him that it was a feminine course but I remember my mum assuring him he just had to do well and it would put him in good stead for Law afterwards. That was my first contact with Kunle’s doggedness and determination he was going to do what he was going to do . Fast forward, America came calling he went to law school. HE DID IT! Parallel to the passion for law was his physical gift of being very tall, Surely the NBA was a given, I was sure of court side seats because my cousin was going to be just like his idol Akeem the Dream. But Law triumphed. I remember visiting him in Baltimore he was going to be away the first few days of my trip but he gave me full access to his apartment, when he returned I remember all the fun we had . Then he eventually transitioned back to Nigeria. By then he was a big shot lawyer, and he added the feather of husband and father to his cap. We were all delighted. Kunle was a staple at EVERYTHING I did by now. Birthdays big or small. Weddings, Dinners he would always show up no matter how short the notice. He was that kind of guy. Dependable. He would always reach out to me about one venture or the other or an idea he thought could make us some coins. And if it wasn’t how we could make some bank he was planning something to put a smile on someone else’s face . He was Kind , he was Generous , he was Articulate, he was an Amazing Father Justin and Tami were the center of his world and him theirs . All his personal hopes all his dreams,Sadly are gone now. But to forget Kunle will be somewhat of an impossibility. A pill too bitter to swallow . A thought too difficult to comprehend. We though must hold on to the memories, celebrate his legacy and support the beautiful young family, both parents and entire extended family that he has left behind.

My dear Kunle, You have such presence and the most generous heart that I have ever known. It is right to say you leave a positive and lasting impression on anyone you come in contact with. Some of the fondset of memories are those of us growing up at Morris! Your smile, even temper, ever the 1st to see the funny side of things even amongst the 'Eyeores' of this world! The Lord knows why He called you this early, for those you have left behind we have to trust for strength to carry on ensuring that your legacy and your light continues to shine bright into the distant future...
You achieved so so much in your short time on this earth and mad a difference to the many lives you touched. You are a much loved family man; the strong memories you created will continue to abide. Rest in perfect peace.

What a great loss! Am still shocked and devastated about your death! Who will call me "Egbon mi olojo kan" as you used to tease me? Death has broken the bond of the three Musketeers of the Fagbenles (myself you and Lola Ayeni) your good deeds are too numerous to mention I can't forget your effort in joining us at ota at my son's graduation but you were hooked up in the hold up for hours! Who are we to query God? May your gentle soul rest in peace Adieu 'Aburo mi atata' till we meet to part no more in the bosom of Almighty God.

A Tribute To My Brother & Friend
There comes a time when we are touched by a few special people in our life time! And it so for me when I met AdeKunle Fagbenle! I am truly blessed to have met a friend like him. He was a man who was uplifting, dedicated and purposeful! Kunle was a very supportive, inspiring, and friendly person. But one of his most impressive attribute was that he loved his family - it was well demonstrated, how he would talk about his little sister and his younger brother... Kunle - you had a smile that would light up, not just a room, but several rooms! I can remember when we would see each other on Coppin's campus and other places - you would greet me in your proud Nigerian accent - ALEXOOOOOO! I will forever miss your big smile and hearing that special greeting from you!
You were someone very special -always a joy to know
giving of yourself -that's what matters to you
a loving brother -a loving friend!
I will miss you - but your smile and your memories will live on with me forever!
Rest my Brother, rest my friend!
REST...

Tribute by Logunde Igbajo of Igbajoland, Chief Dotun Fagbenle, Adekunle's uncle
What else can one say? Only on the eve of his birthday I had a long conversation with my Super K. Responding to my statement that 'I'll be coming tomorrow for your birthday', he said 'bros Dots I'll be visiting motherless babies home ni o', to which I also gave him back, 'so who do you think I am, have I not been a motherless baby since 1999?' He then went on to 'serious business', which was politics. I never knew he was neck deep in it. He wanted me to contribute to his publicity and I told him I'd package something 'tomorrow, your birthday' and requested for his profile.. Here's the birthday writeup on Facebook:
''Super K is a year older today!
Years back, at Morris St., Yaba where he grew up, Kunle admired Hakeem Olajuwon who's nicknamed The Dream. He wanted to be a celebrated basketballer like him, and with this in mind, he went to the US both for further studies and for basketball. he would play for his college, so he wished. At the same time, he had another idol, a role model whom he adored, and prayed he would take after professionally: Chief G.O.K Ajayi!
In his US College, basketball was not to be, and so he was not to be Kunle the Dream..but his second option was, and so he became "Super K the Reality".
Kunle excelled in law school and in practice, actualizing his resolve to be like his granduncle...Chief G.O.K. Ajayi. The rest is in his bio which is summarised below":
"Kunle Fagbenle is dual qualified as a U.S. Attorney and as a Solicitor and Advocate of Nigeria. He has global experience in over 35 nations including project responsibility in 15 African countries, as well as expertise in multiple specialist sectors including, Infrastructure, Telecommunication, Oil & Gas and Private Equity.
Prior to his return to Nigeria, he was the Managing Partner of Global Lawyer, Silverman, Shin & Byrne, a U.S. cross-border law firm with offices in the Maryland/Washington, D.C./New York axis.  He currently sits on corporate boards and serves as an independent Subject Matter Expert to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
In the 1990s, prior to his law practice, Kunle served in senior leadership positions with U.S. telecom giant, WorldCom and with ATN, a private telecommunications consortium of 27 countries, where he was the driving force in establishing one of the first GSM mobile networks in Africa, and where he participated in the privatization of several government-owned telecom monopolies.
Kunle holds the distinction of being the first lawyer of Nigerian descent to receive a Professional Legal Excellence Award in the United States of America (2002), in recognition of his exemplary work in advancing the rights of disadvantaged communities.
Additionally, Kunle was appointed as the personal lawyer to a sitting President of Nigeria (Chief Olusegun Obasanjo); General Counsel to former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar; and Legal Counsel to the Information Committee of the House of Representatives (Nigeria).
Among his academic and professional accomplishments, he holds a doctorate degree in law (Juris Doctor) from the University of Maryland School of Law (USA), and attended Business School at the University of Oxford (UK), where he studied Private equity and was selected as one of the ambassadors of the Said Business School.  He is also a graduate of Coppin State University (USA), where he served as Student Government President for two terms (1990 to 1992).
Kunle is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., the first African-American intercollegiate fraternity known for Manly Deeds, Scholarship and Love for All Mankind and whose membership includes great historical leaders such as: Martin Luther King Jr. W.E.B. Du Bois. Frederick Douglass, Andrew Young, U.S. Supreme Court Justice- Thurgood Marshall and Jamaican Prime Minister- Norman Manley.
He is the first child of popular Newspaper Columnist and Publisher, Mr. Tunde Fagbenle. His mother, Mrs. Titilayo Ero is a retired civil servant.  Kunle is a grand-nephew to the late legendary lawyer, Chief G.O.K. Ajayi, (SAN), who was the lawyer to Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN). Kunle is blessed with two children".
And I concluded thus:
"Kunle is eminently qualified to lead Lagos State to becoming the megacity dreamed by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and I'll advise BAT starts the  grooming now. Fed. Rep. or to start with, the State Assembly will be a good take off point.
KF de, itura de! Super K de, irorun de!! Kunle de alafia de!!!
Long live Super K!"
Kunle called to thank me for the comprehensive writeup not knowing he was sending me his complete profile as funeral oration...
Kunle, you came, you saw and you conquered! You did not write the Fagbenle family name in pencil...to be erased and forgotten(through you) but rather you wrote it boldly in gold on marble, always to be remembered for good... We'll keep seeing you in the children you left behind and they'll surely be greater than you were.

My Dear Kunle. My aburo.
A week has passed.
I still cannot believe that you are no longer here.
I try not to think too much.
Because then, it won't really be true, and
This would not really have happened.
How is it possible that you, Kunle Fagbenle-
Larger than life.
Gentle giant.
Charisma King- second only to your dad, Uncle Tunde.
Kind, Thoughtful. Funny.
Mischievous former teenager.
Uncle Dotun's second in command.
BELOVED Cousin, Son, Brother, Husband, Father
Are no more?
I slumbered.
Burdened by the stress of living.
Thinking you would always be here.
And in a blink of an eye,
You were gone.
I love you, Kunle and I miss you.
But I know that you are sitting in the bosom of our Lord, beloved.
Smiling as you always did.
Until we meet again.
My Beloved

It is a week now since Nihinlola broke the news of your departure and I just could not but remember the softness of your voice even though you were such a giant. All I remember is that you often had a smile. Uhmn I have been so angry that death could take such an accomplished good soul like yourself. Sleep on in the bosom of our Lord. Sleep well my beloved. Ma je okun ma je ekolo, ohun ti won ba nje lajule orun ni ki o ba won je. Whao you were so effusive in the way you showed your affections. Goodnight my dear

TRIBUTE TO OUR SUPER K
An adage says that the tragedy in life does not lie in not reaching your goals but the tragedy lies in having no goal to reach. Adorations must therefore be given to God Almighty that our dear brother and Nephew, Kunle Fagbenle’s short period of stay on this side of the divide is filled with an epitome of goals and achievements which are worthy of emulations, particularly by our young generations.
We have a catalogue of countless pleasant memories of you from childhood to adulthood. You were a wise gentleman and firm in your convictions. Your life was filled with unparalleled humility, integrity, humour, hard work, honesty, optimism and kindness to everyone that came your way. You were a prolific writer, an avid reader, an astute legal luminary and a skilled speaker that inspired both younger and older ones. Our last encounter with you was when you branched to say hello to the surviving matriarch of Pa. Osho Fagbenle, Mama Monisola Abeje Fagbenle at her Apata, Ibadan home on 22nd December, 2017, a day after attending your Cousin (Nike Oladipo)’s wedding in Ibadan.
In human thinking, your demise is still a rude shock and deep sorrow in our hearts. Yet, it is difficult to believe that you are gone so soon. In the same vein, we are convinced beyond reasonable doubts that our Very Own Super K is now resting in the bosom of the Lord, singing praises and giving thanks to God Almighty for a short but fulfilled life. Continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord till we meet at His feet. Adieu, Super K.

It saddens my heart to hear the news of your demise, Bros K. my Egbon, our first grandson of the Michael Adebola Ekisola family. I never knew it was actually going to be the last time I will see you, were you actually bidding me goodbye when we sat a month ago having a tete-a-tete? You were pleasant, good and very ambitious a being, your calm and humble personality will forever be remembered..
I pray at this time the Almighty God comforts your parents, your immediate family and the family at large in Jesus name amen.

ISAAC VALEMA
Speaking from my tan tin little time that I stayed with him in madam Ally’s house house in Dollis Hill London, there is nothing to stop me from saying Kunle he was a great Father to his two children and had a bigger heart I have ever seen.
He was a great man and his life time has to be an example to follow, he was a bigger brother to look after the small brothers and a great son the parents to feel proud of.
We can't blame God 'cause his so selfish keeping the great things all to himself, 'cause we have to fill up our heart with a hope that his soul will still be living upon us.
Honestly there is nothing much I can do than asking you as a family to stand for one another in these such hard time.
If there is anything I can do for the family please do not hesitate to ask anytime. I will more than happy to help.
Thank you.
Isaac.

It's a week the cold hands of death snatched you away from this world,
Gone but not forgotten,
Gone but still alive in our hearts,
We love you,
But God knows what's good for you.
We miss you,
Even more than we can ever imagine.
Adieu dear sister and friend.
May the Almighty God uphold the family you left behind.
Kunle, memory of you is all that we've got.

My loving cousin with a beautiful heart. I am so heartbroken and beside myself with grief. How could this have happened? You were a big lover of family-- cousins, aunts and uncles. I am so hurt, upset and confused. I pray that the Holy Spirit will do His miraculous work of comfort on S'agba, your dad, wife, kids and our entire family's hearts. Lord, I lay our grief at Your feet; You know how much Bro Kunle is loved by all of us. But I know You love him exceedingly more. Bro Kunle, oh how we will miss you.

My dear Egbon, its difficult to accept that you are no longer with us. Growing up, you were that big brother, myself and siblings looked forward to seeing every time you were in town. I saw you last about a month before you moved on to join the Saints in the greater glory you now dwell in. You had a heart of gold, so genuine and kindhearted and you played a very key role in keeping the extended family together. Funto always described you as ‘that my Uncle that has an innocent face’, to think a little girl thought that, how else could you be described?
We take solace in the fact that you are now asleep in the Lord. You’ve left an enormous vacuum in our hearts and I pray for strength for Uncle Tunde and Aunty Titi as you sure were one child to be extremely proud of. We love you and pray for the beautiful family you left behind that the merciful God will be their succor and your legacy will surely leave on through Justin & Tami. We will miss you so very much Egbon mi, adieu till we meet again!
