BIOGRAPHY

Leonard Onyemachi Mezie was born on January 25th 1976 into the family of Mr Sunday Mezie and Mrs Joy Mezie (nee Etozuo) from Uhuokwu Ekeoba, in Ohuhu Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria. Leonard was the Fifth in line of six Children from his parents.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Leonard Onyemachi Mezie attended the then Onilekere Primary School Cement Bus-stop, Abeokuta express way where he obtained his first school leaving certificate. He then proceeded to Onipetesi High Schoool, IloroMangoro, Lagos State where he Obtained his SeniorSecondary School Certificate. Leonard Onyemachi Mezie furthered his education in the Rivers State college of Arts and Science and upon completion, he ventered the Banking sector.

WORK EXPERIENCE

After a brief career in the banking sector, Leonard Onyemachi Mezie, become to horn his entrepreneurship skills importing Electric gadgets and fashion statement brands. However, his passion for acting got the best of him as hedecided to continue in the chase of the dreams he started in 1996 when he joined Nollywood.Leonard Onyemachi Mezie paid his dues as a veteran Actor, he went from one audition to another playing minor roles and sub- leads until his breakthrough in 2003 where he featured in the movie LABISTA along side Ernest Asuzu, Jerry Arilo and the likes. Over the years he graced our Screens with his warm smile and talent as he entertained his fans. He rich looks and appeal landed him several royal and lover boy roles and his energy won hearts off and on the screen.

Some of his works includes Labista, Total War, Fuel wrestle, Royal Insult, Final War, Feel my pain, Final War, Road to Jerusalem, No Man’s Land, Empty Throne, King's sleepless night, Heart of a slave amongst others. Leonard Onyemachi Mezie featured alongside Nollywood big names like Zack Orji , John Okafor (Mr Ibu), Chidi Mokeme, Regina Askia, Ini Edo, Jim Iyke, Nonso Diobu, Tonto Dike amongst others.

FAITH

Leonard Onyemachi Mezie was born into a Christian home and attended Saint Sabina Catholic Church Agege with his family. He joined the Altar servers at a young age and grew to be one of the senior altar boys. Leonard Onyemachi Mezie helped in training and bringing up young altar servers and was loved by all including the Parish Priest Reverend Father Thomas Walsh who took personal interest in him. Leonard Onyemachi Mezie on several occasions played the Jesus character in the church’s Station of the Cross during the Easter Season. The story depicts Jesus Christ journey with the Cross and unto Crucifixion. This was where his passion for acting was birthed.

SOCIAL LIFE

‘Doctor’ as he was fondly called from childhood, Leonard Onyemachi Mezie was a very social andHospitable fellow who blends in social gatherings and made friends across all age ranges and gender. Entertainment was his hobby but only a few knew he loved cooking.

Oh he loves his swallow and not to mention bread, fried eggs and tea. He made friends easily in and out the industry and helped raise some upcoming actors and colleagues even during his brief relocation to the United Kingdom. However, Leonard Onyemachi Mezie couldn’t continue with hisschedule on movie sets and social life when his health deteriorated after confirming he had chronic kidney disease (CKD) that lead to his kidneys failing.

MARRIAGE LIFE

Leonard Onyemachi Mezie was married to Maureen Leonard Mezie and were not yet blessed with the fruit of the womb. He’s survived by his Brothers, Sisters, Nephews, Nieces, Uncles, Aunts, Cousin and other relatives. May he gentle soul continue to rest in the bossom of God Almighty. Rest on Leonard Onyemachi Mezie. You remain in our heart forever.
