I met Lil at Kodak. A great place to work at that time. I admired her work ethic and hoped to be as successful as she was. Lil was so pretty, petite, feminine and fashionable. We became friends and had great "girl" times together playing golf, skiing, partying in Vail and frequenting our local haunts.
Lil was a devoted mom. Her kids always had a place to live in her home. Her grandkids were the love of her life.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to visit Lil during her difficult battle with Parkinsons. I hope she finds a peaceful life in the hereafter.

Grandma Lil

November 4, 2022
I will never forget some of the first things my husband Kyle shared about his Grandma Lil (at this time we were just dating). He told me about her love for golf, her love for The Rio (& their margaritas), her love for quilting and most recently an amazing pomegranate martini they crafted up for the holidays. Kyle doesn’t look like a martini drinking guy so I thought to myself, they must be pretty darn good. The first time I had the pleasure of meeting Grandma Lil I was a little nervous. I wasn't sure what to expect “meeting the family” and would the have the pomegranate martinis? I remember walking into her home and I was immediately greeted by her and the cutest little white dog I had ever seen, Bridget. She invited me in for a hug and I couldn’t believe how small she was in person. How did Kyle come from this bloodline? She ushered me into the kitchen where she showed me how to assemble her famous enchiladas. She stayed in the kitchen assembling enchiladas and making sure everyone was happy and full. And true hostess. After we finished dinner she took my on a tour down to her most prized possessions (besides her golf clubs) down to her quilting area. I was amazed by her talent, beautiful quilts 4x her size draped every corner of this room. The warmth and welcome I felt that day from Grandma Lil became a constant theme for our relationship. She always treated me like I was apart of the family, always made sure I was fed, entertained and cared for. That love she had shown Kyle all his life overflowed onto me and years later onto our son. I will never know how The Lord filled such a small body with such a big heart but I am so thankful he did. Grandma Lil, Kyle misses you dearly as do I. I promise to be here for him and show him the same love and care you’ve shown me. I will continue to tell our son Atticus all about you, I know he loved visiting you and showing you all his new tricks recently. I wish he could have spent more time getting to know you.  There is such a sense of peace knowing we will all see you again one day, in a much better place. I hope in the meantime you are getting the best Tee time and creating the most beautiful quilts. Please continue to look down on your family. Rest peacefully Grandma, we love you.

P.S. I plan on making pomegranate martinis soon. I’ll be sure to save you one or two.
