Lillie Hyde Grissom, 91, a longtime resident of Creedmoor, NC, passed away at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Durham, Monday, November 26, 2012.

She was the widow of the late Raymond Grissom, the daughter of the late Thomas and Annie Bell Cutts Hyde, a member of Creedmoor United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Murdoch Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Thursday, November 29, 2012 in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by Rev. Jim Shelly and Rev. Cam Ford.  Burial will be in Creedmoor Cemetery.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Surviving are her children, Peggy Grissom, of the home, Patsy (Robert) Watkins of Clemmons, Judy (Jack) Watkins of Oxford, a sister Nellie Harward of Carrboro,  five grandchildren, Robert Watkins, Jr., Vickie Davis, Gail Killman, Candace Pennell, Ray Watkins and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 7:00 – 8:30 PM Wednesday evening, November 28, 2012 in the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and other times at the home of Judy and Jack Watkins, 4540 Watkins Road, Oxford, NC 27565.

In lieu of flowers, contribution can be made to one’s favorite charity, New Horizons Church or Relay for Life.

I was so sorry to hear of Lillie's death. I remember her as someone who was always fun to be around, someone who was easy for a teenager to be comfortable with. I will always remember her kindness.
