With great sadness, we announce the death of Mary DeStefano, who passed unexpectedly in Las Vegas, Nevada on Thursday, January 18th, 2018 at the age of 93.  She was surrounded by her family as she went to join her eldest daughter, Linda Buffone, who passed 3 days earlier.

Mary is survived by her three children, Cheryl Anast (George), Mario DeStefano & Michele Iafrate, as well as 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandsons.

Mary was born in 1924 to Thomas Hedmond and Florence Bonitatibus, Italian immigrants who traveled to the US and made their home in West Virginia.  She was married to Mario DeStefano for 30 years before he passed away unexpectedly. Mary spent most of her life as a homemaker and went to work after her husband passed away.  She loved taking care of family and friends. In 1985 she retired and moved to Las Vegas to be with her family.

She will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday 1/27/18 at 10am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Henderson - 2300 Sunridge Heights Parkway, Henderson, NV  89052.

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Mom! Not a day passes that we don’t miss you. Birthdays, Mother’s Days and holidays are not the same without you. Your legend lives on with all the stories we remember and talk about. You would have hated all of the craziness with the coronavirus. Kim and I were talking about that this morning. She told me she had a dream that you and Linnie got a mani and pedi in heaven and we laughed thinking about someone touching your feet and you saying I’ll send you to the moon. Wish you were still here with us. I love you, Mom!

It’s hard to believe that a whole year has passed. You left us so quickly and so unexpectedly. There were so many things I thought I could just ask you later...I wish we had a few more tomorrow’s. There’s never a moment we aren’t thinking of you or telling one of the funny stories you told us we would talk about after you were gone. We miss you every day. Wish you were still here. I love you, Mom.

John, Kim, Allyson, Keith, Steven and Bryan and all your spouse's. We know you are tight and close knit family. We are so sad for you to have lost two amazing women in one week. You all still have each other and all the great memories with your mom and grandma. I think of you all often. Hugs Judie and Doug Sadler

My dear Cheryl, Mario, and Michele, I am so sorry for the passing of your Mom, so soon after the heartbreak of losing Linda Rae. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers and I am sending all my love to you. I did not know there were so many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. What a large wonderful family to have and to count on during this very sad time. I love you all. Your cousin Marie
